Mechadon is probably the best example of a walker.

"show me one example of a mechanism that would satisfy the requirements of this rule, that has won a fighting robots type fight!"
I may be wrong but I don't think it ever won a fight by actually fighting!![]()

Wouldn't an ordinary wheel which could be moved in and out by say a servo count as 2 independent axis of movement?
maybe we could have another class of walkers that get a 50kg weight bonus?
The ruling became so restricted and hard because too many people were trying to abuse it. It became a case of everyone was coming up with the simplest, easiest, barely a walking mechanism they could use under the biggest spinner possible. Once the rules changed, it was no longer worth the effort to abuse, so people just went back to wheels. And that is why the walker design dropped off the face of the earth.
You can still see the abuse in the antweights where there are shuffling antweight walkers with spinning weapons nearly heavier then their entire opponent.
I believe Mechadon won a single fight in it's career, and it was due to the opponent breaking down mid fight :P
Thanks for your comments all the way from Oz.
No walkers fighting ever again! so let's stop the thread.![]()

I have a mechanism design in mind and have some parts for it but it will require a good few years worth of development before it would move. Need to have my workshop up and running before I look at it seriously.
