You mean it doesn't bother you you that the weapon could break in half along the join and go whizzing across the room and smash into something? Or that since those tanks are probably made of mild steel that 1 good hit will twist them irreparably, ripping itself from its mounts and again breaking free of its mounts.
Also welding your teeth on doesn't work. The forces are too great. Your welds WILL shear. You must dovetail or bolt them in with extra support and even that isn't reliable. If you hit something and they break off those chunks will be going fast enough to kill you if they hit you.

Well that's not very smart is it like I said common sense

Season 2 will be way more competitive to get into.

Building a HW spinner for a first bot goes against common sense. As does 2 halves of a pneumatic cylinder welded together to make a disc.

So? Being a pro welder* doesn't mean you know about the forces involved in a decent spinner.

A good weld is stronger than the base material.
But it still is a connection, and you need to balance the whole too. Welds and balancing are not easy.
Not something done by a gardenshed builder with a drill , anglegrinder and a MIG.

Talking to a guy on the RW8 filming doesn't make you an expert either, nor does the fact somebody is working for a TV company makes that person an expert on anything related to robots.

I was there during series 5-6 and 7.
Most Tech-checkers and technical advisors were competent people. But anybody on the filming or catering crew, not so.

*wanna go into a bragging fight about pro-welding?

Those tanks are probably C37 or if we're lucky C52 construction "mild" steel with a wall of 3-4mm.

We know that 5mm high grade steel is not enough to protect from the high power spinners in the featherweight class...
