9m is the metric equivalent of the distance they have used in the US for many, many years. We will start with this and if it needs changing will do so. It is the audience distance, not the driver distance. Have a look at this highlights video from Dragoncon.
It's a moot point at present as the Robodojo competition will be held in the Robodojo FW arena. The 9m rule is to cover possible future events in an open arena.

Hi Cliff,
FW signups for both the full combat and sportsman class competitions will go up as soon as possible after the DRG tournament this weekend. Beetles are welcome but it is primarily a FW focused event. Next BW focused event is Sunday 17th February.
