how would a change of material from hardox to say stainless steel work? be a lot easier to source

i did. I always follow the rule of thumb of 1.5 times for a safe over volt on a motor without running it to ruin too quickly. If they can take it then by all means.

Sourcing it. I would send an Email to SSAB, to ask who's selling the stuff around your location. From that you can select compagnies that work with Hardox, and then search for offcuts. Or even a made to fit spinner bar.
