would suggest you dont have you wheels that far forward, it will be impossible to drive.

the plate on the side is to protect the wheels.
I think it's just a crap drawing certainly when i've marked it out and drilled it out it doesn't seem that far in front... need to try it out and if its crap to drive may make it 4wd to make up for it.
i've been working away. fitted the fins that will hold the battery and the lifter arm botls to.
I have just sat the motors in to give a feel.
link is only fitted temp, i'll make a proper mount for it.

I think what Billy is trying to do is produce a razer and Hypno-disc/360 like effect where it steers around the front wheels to help keep the weapon pointed at the opponent.
correct. I was wanting the drive at the front where the lifter will be, as thats the way i'll be driving towards the other bots (hopefully)
a quick shelf for the link

i see what you are going for, but it will be impossible to drive, it will over steer like crazy, did this with the first Merlin and you end up constantly fighting the back end. Razer and Hypno got away with it for 2 reasons, first they were 4wd, second Hypno did because of the gryo forces meaning the disc didn't want to move so it would turn around the disc, Razer did it by having omni wheels on the back.
the more i think about it, the more i think youre right......I'll give it a run and see how it performs, but as you say if I end up fighting with the back end all the time, ill make it 4wd.
ok.....i've thought about it...i'm going to make it 4wd. for all it is at this stage.
ok, i've been plodding away, for the little time i have between courses for work.
i've changed the design to a 4wd type, so i'll need to make a two small patches underneath the bot, to cover the roller cut out holes.
the car seat motor arrived. Going to fix it with jubilee clips
ok need some advice:
i'm looking to secure my 3mm aluminium plate that covers the battery, this will required to be screwed on and off alot. so i was thinking of using one o fthe following:
a brass insert pressed into my 12mm hdpe like these ones
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M5-x-13mm-Un- ... 3f08bb021b
or something like these and just use a wing nut on the outside
what would be the better option, as anyone ever used these in hdpe?
small update:
mount made for the lifter motor (will be secured with two jubilee clips), esc for lifter bolted in place.
