    the power switch ie the on and off in a robot is the link

    You don't have to have a switch. Most people just use a link to turn their bots on and off.

    TBH it's just something else to break/turn off your robot.

    If you insist on having one though try using a key switch as this is unlikely to be toggled through impact,

    You could use toggle switch for power, but the battery live (,+, positive, red, whatever) must go straight to a removal link - basically wire loop with a connectors.

    The reason for it is that the link can be pulled out in the event of an emergency (robot stuck in forward drive, electric shock, axe in leg, whatever), creating a large gap in the power supply circuit .

    it would be pointless to add another switch to the wiring just something else to forget to turn on, and another
    weakness to any robot
