The knurl is rubbish anyhow...everytime I've had a Bosch 35 fail it's been due to the knurl chewing up in the nylon gear, which causes the gear to rotate freely on the shaft.
I've been doing bits on Gabriel to try and get the new version going for the next show. I have given up on belts and am going back to chains for the drive using some cheap e bay motors (the Gimson motors weren't for sale when I designed the drive.)
I am also thinking of changing the axe head for a circular saw blade for the axe head as it looks better!

Looking good craig! I have just done this mod for the Bosch motors. If you have a look at the Predator build thread ive detailed how I made the shaft and added pics too. I used a 12mm bar and turned the ends down to 8mm for the bushes. The I put a 9mm square onto the 12mm section left in the middle. This left nicely radiused corners. i then machined a 9mm square in the nylon gear using a 3mm cutter and it all went together nicely.
Got the robot with the new drives sorted and on the first test the new gearboxes bust again!
I have a plan B but I don't know if I will be able to get it going in time for the Burgess Hill event.
with the walker taking a lot of my robot time and I must get Saint going again.
I can't understand why I just can't get the drive to work on this robot it isn't like I haven't made big-wheel robots before!
Gabriel is alive with a transmission that actually works for more than 25 seconds!!!
I have decided on an Interesting axe head for it.
I hope to have a video of it going this week, but hope to bring it along to the next event anyway.
It still needs some bits doing. Hopefully I will get the time this coming week to get it all to specification.

Dave the saw blade is one used for cutting wood normally, so it is made from quite soft steel, it won't shatter it will just bend and has a bit already!
It's more for show, an electric axe in this class is never going to break much, so lets make it look different.
