Thread: Battery Strimmer Motor

  1. #11
Could always take a nice day-trip to St. Andrews to pick it up if you win, saving yourself £8 of postage.
(of course, that'll only be worth it if the fuel costs there and back don't exceed £8!)

EDIT: Google Maps estimates the fuel cost to be £17.31 one way. Might not be the most financially plausible plan in the world

St Andrews day trip would be nice, but the way fuel is going it i'll soon be costing £8 to get out of the driveway.

i might well be making a trip to st andrews at the start of may although whether or not the guy will hold it until then remains to be seen (via bus it's 11 return from glasgow )

Just took the strimmer to bits and had a look at the motor. The battery is dead, as the guy said, the motor only does a half rotation or so then stops so i'll get it charger and see how it goes. Its running off an 18v 1.7mAh NiCad battery.

If that motor turns out to be useless, its a cheap father day present for the old man

Looks like a but standard 540 or 700 size motor.
But then the 8000 rpm @18V is very low. Maybe a knock off of the Speed 720 Torque, what runs 4200 rpm @12V.

Not a patch on a Speed 900 or simular sized Johnson.

Ive been busy over the past few days so haven't got back to anyone sorry. I haven't managed to find many stats for it, but will weigh and measure it when I get the chance. Also haven't had a chance to make a charger adapter for it as the charger it came with is broken. The only stat that seems to be available from looking at the motor is that its 8000rpm at 18V
