Thread: Cicatrix Build Diary

To be honest its not that complicated this time, so as bad as it was when it was at its most reliable. Also, saying that, when it was at its most reliable it did go on fire, so the new wiring doesn't have much to live up to .

Didn't want to give it away, but with any luck you can guess what the teams 3rd feather is a copy of . Would be great to have an Eric in every popular class .

I would offer to help with your load of slabs, but I don't imagine you have much need for a guy who has mashed ligaments in one leg and can just about carry a FW without collapsing.

No worries, I'm going to be enlisting the help of my - somewhat reluctant - sister in moving them from the front of the house to the back. They only weigh 60kg each, that's only a slightly obese middleweight

A featherweight Eric would also be cool. Who'd a thunk it that it would end up being replicated in all the popular weight classes?! It seems to have captured a few imaginations
If you've not got any plans for the lifter yet, I've got an electric window mechanism sitting here that would be quick but powerful to use on the lifting arm, kind of like:

Never got round to using it and been meaning to get rid of it for a while so if you think you can make use of it (even if for the srimech) you're welcome to it.

The lifter on featherweight Eric will almost definitely be (prepares for criticism) pneumatic. The extra power will probably mean that the side arms aren't really needed but I'll put them on and maybe attach some sort of motor to them just so that they move, but that will be a side project. Unless of course the pneumatics don't work as a srimech...

That motor might work for the Cicatrix lifter pod though, maybe not using the rack and pinion design though due to space problems. If so that would be great!

It's great that for some reason Eric has sparked everyones imaginations, on the grand scheme of things it was fairly unimportant as far as RW is concerned, but its been great to see the enthusiasm. Its weird that all the various versions of Eric are using different weapon systems too, servo, electric (I assume for a kilobot), pneumatic and hydraulic.

Can't think of a name for a FW version of Eric, anyone got any suggestions?

    Clapton? (or Layla?)
    Cantona?

That's the only Eric-related names I can think of this early on a Saturday morning and, well, they're pish

I had considered Eric Jr. but was opening the floor up to other people too. That could be another interesting way to look at it Jamie, Will be interesting to see qhqt springs up from that.

Wasn't expecting to tell anyone about it so didn't think it would become important, but it came up in the general flow of the build thread. It won't be soon anyway so plenty of time to look for some ideas, anyones suggestions would be gratefully received

Also forgot to add that to the thread that both Daiske and the team Battle Rat have both found new homes respectively.

Happy to see them both find loving homes and even more happy that Daiske hasn't been broken up into its constituent parts and from what I have heard will be working for a great cause.

Finished the rewiring after getting hold of more connectors today.

I think the problem has been the XXL because it is still not functioning properly. Tried to demonstrate it with a video.

The XL is pink/red and the XXL is green:

From that it definitely looks like the XXL. We thought it was currently limiting at first, but the fact that the XL isn't suffering from the same issue despite being rated for only half the current handling capacity suggests that isn't the case.

Can't really offer any words of wisdom beyond that I'm afraid, apart from maybe getting in touch with Robot Power. But then, it's a modified XXL rather than the official RP XXL isn't it? Dunno how much help they'd be willing to provide in that case
