Thread: modifying a cordless angle grinder for a spinner?

  1. #1
as i was cutting my panels today for my new bot i was thinking if they had a cordless version of angle grinders. as i got looking i noticed an 18v one for 31 quid that about 5000 rpm and i wondered why dont more people use these for spinners?

im sure there is a perfectly logical reason for it but i really cant think for myself why?

can someone please clear this up for me?

the motor may be reasonably effective for a spinner but there are probably better motors out there for people to use in there spinners

They seen good since all the gearing and motors are in one unit, you just need to add the spinner

don.t, the gearbox cases on an angle grinder are made from low quality aluminium alloys and will not be able to take the extreme forces that a spinner would impart. A grinding disc only weighs a few hundred grams whereas any decent sized disc needs to weigh a couple of kg. inertia x at the uk champs was a great example of a very simple spinner design that was effective
