selling it then?
selling it then?
now im back from working away with work, robots bin striped down and chucked away
it's safe to say the full combat bug has got me so i designed a new one last weekend and make templates for bulkheads after the event after looking at what other people have done etc etc
going with the same size wheels- as i liked the speed i got off them off just 8.4 volts and drum but the actual robots chassis will be massivly smaller with the drive motors near enough directly behind the drum and its having mostly hardox side and rear armour.
probabily gettings lipos for it aswell![]()
you need to rebalance those drums with extra teeth before they will run without vibration.
shame for me your keeping it all coz i would have had it![]()
nahh im grinding those teeth off and getting some ring teeth put on instead![]()
The ring tooth idea was suggested to me by Grant a good four or five years ago; if he'd patented the idea before telling me, he'd be making a killing by now
It's funny though because all the drum robots in America seem to go for bar teeth, and all the drum robots over here are opting for ring teeth; it's becoming a very British thing, like drinking tea and pronouncing aluminium correctly.
The ring teeth are incredibly effective though compared to bars, and it always looks cooler having a bunch of mini vertical discs on the front of your robot rather than two strips of metal. Will be looking forward to seeing how your redesign progresses Calum as it looked pretty cool trundling around the arena with its big wheels![]()
You ain't got nuthin' on our drerm bats! You gaa's with your aluminum armor aynd bad robatic vee-hickle controlin' abilities arr whack!Originally Posted by k_c_r
Sorry, couldn't resist. I wanted to put mirror in there too as for some fantastic reason American people can't say mirror, it comes out some kind of mee-ur. Typing a strong American accent can get far more extreme than that, lol.
Sorry for the ridiculous post, Calumco. You can have your thread back now.![]()
ill spin my drum up tomorrow calum. you shud have gone for ring teeth before. I kinda wish id have just wired mine before the weekend, Cos its going to sit there unwired for months now.
First time i'd seen ring teeth on a drum in the uk was my own robot Conundrum Mk2 which was made for Roaming Robots Winter Tour back in 2006. After the previous event Little Hitter mangled my bar teeth so I was looking for a more reliable solution.
Tried to find a photo but I cannot find one at the moment. There is a video on youtube you can just about make them out.
I knew Conundrum Mk.2 changed from bar teeth to individual teeth at some point during its active life but I didn't realise it was the same ring design as we're all using now. Perhaps Grant isn't owed a massive royalty cheque after all![]()
