Thread: Wheelchair motors

Both motors a success story now, thanks for the help. Another quick question, once the mounts are on the new motors they cover the hole in that shaft that the motors would be secured to, is it ok to drill another hole through the shaft (although I imagine it would be unimaginably difficult) or would i be better rethinking my mounting solution?

good to hear you managed to get the shaft adapters off! drilling a new hole should be fine just clamp it well, use a pillar drill on low speed and lots of lubricant.

Haha cheers, was quite a relief for me too. The first one was simple, did it almost entirely by hand, except knocking the pin out. The second one was far tougher, even the first bit that I said earlier I easily took off was a nightmare, and that was even while using tools.

I'll need to find someone with a pillar drill and do that, but that can be done passively. I have said i'll have Scar at RL Edinburgh as a static, so if the worst comes to the worst I can just use the old motors to mount the wheels onto.

    Thanks guys.
