There is a 4.5 BHP motor running at 24 V from the guys who build bio-hazard in America but if I can find something over here it would be better but importing might be the best call if I can't get a similar product over here

im thinking that if i can find someone who knows about pneumatics to help me along with buying parts etc then i will go with either a LP pneumatic lifter of flipper but now i really cant decide on which to go for!
there are pros and cons to both and i dont know if i got flipped with a classic flipper, could i self right etc were as a lifter i can make so i can run inverted. also with a bar im not sure if i would be able to chuck people out the arena (which does appeal to everyone) and which would be the easier of the two too build?
if possible i would like peoples opinions on these points so i can make a more accurate decision. i like both but i dont know the pros and cons
don't go pneaumatic just yet get it moving add an electric lifter, just for the sake of not having antother heavyweight flipper and much more strict safety things, and as its only your second robot.
The more I look at electric lifter, the more I see thy thy are quite difficult to get right, it's not a attach he motor to the arm and away you go thing, and it would probably end up being less expensive going with CO2 than electric
don't go pneumatic, to get a decent flipper you either need to go full pressure or use a much more complicated system. besides there are too many flippers as it is, just build a decent electric lifter using a magmotor or something.
take a look at: http://www.teamstorm.com/storm2/storm2b.htm
with all the gearing etc needed for electric lifters and the constant thing of the motors being used and keep remewing them (best part of £200 a motor) i think going pneumatic will be better over all, but its just the finding a mentor about pneumatic's will be the hard part
just use the internet and this forum.
If I did a 2:1 or even 3:1 reduction on my drive would I get a noticeable difference in speed or not?
Yes very noticeable, 3:1 would give you a third the speed you started with
so then what if i somehow did a 1:3 increase?
