Aluminium Spinners

Just been asked if i want to go and attack an old transformer with an angle grinder. It's got a lovely 22mm aluminium plate in it (need to check the grade but it's not particularly soft) about 2m x 1.5m. Not able to take all of it but I was thinking at that thickness it's got to have a serious amount of stregnth and weight behind it.

Anyways occurred to me that Hydra needs some new bulkheads and then maybe I can get it laser cut to make some spinning discs/bars. Anyone actually used aluminium in a spinning bar or disc? How does it hold up? Is it anywhere near effective?

Aluminium for a bar wouldnt be very useable in most cases. Titanium bars still have a tendancy to break. On a disc, it would be good if it was made in a warhead/360 type fashion with an alumium disc with a full steel ring bolted around the outside that takes the loads.
Unless its a very high grade aluminium such as 7075/2014 then it wouldnt be upto the job for spinners.
