Thread: need a speed controller

  1. #11
running 18v would probably be ok but i'd never be happy about pushing a couple of robots around with it ie stressing it

never used them but many people have very successfully used the scorpion controllers in relatively big current draw applications.

I used a scorpion XL on a pair of 18v drill motors run on the same voltage, didn't have any problems after numerous fights (including a butt-kicking from Little Hitter) until I moved to spektrum, because the battery eliminator circuit (BEC) was not powerful enough to supply the receiver, so I had to buy a seperate voltage regulator/BEC to supply 1.5A to power my RX, Gyro and switcher

Me personally, I've seen too many broken sabretooths in the FW's, especially them coming off the heatsink (like calums and Ceri's as I recall), no such issues with the scorpion. There quite a few good machines to use the scorpion, the 3 Big Nipper FW's all use one, 360 uses one, and I believe the Shock team use them.

they're also alot smaller than the sabretooth
