overvolting drill motors

Im thinking of overvolting the dill motors in my robot and was wondering if any one had done this successfully before, or will I just kill the motors.

yep i am plannig to run 12 v motors of 14.4v, just not to much, ie stick 24v into a 9.6v drill

The golden rule that usually works out well enough for our purposes is to limit your overvolting to 1.5 times the rated motor voltage, eg running a 12v motor at 18v should be ok
