Okay thankyou to everyone who helped if i need more help i'll post on here and when i start building i'll start a build diary.

Bear in mind that in terms of dimensions Seraphim is probably the biggest featherweight about, so no need to aim for that sort of size.

Okay thanks for all your help.
I have 1 more question. Would it be better to get parts now and keep keep them to get 1 by 1 for the robot due to me having only about 40 pounds to spend right now?

Not sure, I suppose it depends on what you want to do.

Coud start modifying some drills or something, thats quite an active thing to do and you can test them using the drill batteries. Or could build a model of what your trying to build from cardboard or something, may even have things like that lying around the house from packaging etc. Just to keep yourself busy until you get the funds to get everything you need.

Could even (and I hate to repeat myself again) if you have spare wood kicking about in the house/garage or somewhere like that build something from that, even if you're not going to use it in battle, to give yourself both something to do and also an idea of how your design is going to shape up. Will also show you how big you would need to make it to fit everything in as your drill batteries and motors will take up a fair bit of the space you're going to need inside.

Just an idea if you don't fancy just waiting.

i'll make on out of cardboard to test it could you please post a video or website to show me how to mod the drill motors?

    remove the battery

lye it flat with the screws pointing up at you use a screw driver and undo them all

lift the case off ( the trigger part might also lift)

remove all the plastic outer parts

so you have the drill motor gearbox a switch gear in front of you

take the drill chuck in your hand or a vice and look inside you will see a reverse thread screw

undo the screw turn to the RIGHT

    un screw the chuck

unscrew the next plate this will be holding back a spring get rid of this too

you will see or hear a load of ball bearing falling everywhere (un less you catch them) i would recommend removing all these

    replace the reverse thread screw

    clip the motor wires

    DONE

to make it work as needed you need some (i think) 2.5mm diamter grub screws to replace the ball bearings screw them down until you can't turn the shaft but hand (not overly tight though)

    think ive covered it all

    enjoy

Alex got there before me, but heres a link to a site, has a few photos on it too.

    http://www.wa4dsy.net/robot/drillmaster/index.html

To add to Alex's description there are also two small clips in the bit where the battery clips in to that you need to take out.

I actually just bought some of the grub screws you need to get hold of today. They are M5 5mm grub screws.

I got them from here :

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/m5-x-5mm-stainles ... _837wt_907

but I haven't done the mod yet, so cant recommend them or otherwise though i'm hoping they'll be fine. Though if you want to wait I'll get them within the next few days and let you know if they suit. Jamie recommended that size to me and he has done it before so i'm sure they will be fine.
