The 8th annual games will be Fri-Sun, Apr 15-17, 2011 in San Mateo, CA

RoboGames is the olympics of robots - we invite the best minds from around the world to compete in over 50 different events: combat robots, fire-fighters, LEGO bots, hockey bots, walking humanoids, soccer bots, sumo bots, and even androids that do kung-fu. Some robots are autonomous, some are remote controlled - but they're all cool! As an open event, anyone can compete - this means you.

RoboGames has signed a TV deal! Yes kids, this show will be taped for the Discovery Network! Here's your chance to be a star. ComBots LLC is proud to announce the signing of a contract with Sharp Entertainment (production company) and The Discovery Network's Science Channel to tape and air RoboGames for broadcast. Sharp Entertainment is known for the shows Punkin' Chunkin' and Large Dangerous Rocket Ships among others.

The show will focus on 220 pound robots, but will have video sidebars relating to other combat weight classes, as well as non-combat events happening at RoboGames.

The Sharp Entertainment production crew will be following several teams prior to the event, and then shooting the event in whole as it happens April 15th-17th. The show will likely air sometime in May or June 2011 on Discovery's Science Channel.

So cycle your batteries, prime your fuel lines, grease up your sprockets and tighten your nuts, RoboGames 2011 is on its way and we want you back! Registration is now open for the 8th annual International RoboGames, April 15-17th, 2011 at the Beautiful San Mateo County Fairgrounds (about 20 minutes south of downtown San Francisco.)

We know you had a great time in years past, and that ideas for new and improved robots for our over 70 events have been ticking around your brain for months. The time has come to put the plans into action and register now for the thrills chills spills, triumph and tragedy of live and in person robot competition!

In addition to the vast array of competition, we've also added a symposium for students and researchers who want to publish papers and present their research in a peer-reviewed environment. We'll be sending a separate email covering the symposium.

Experience again the thrill of the moment, the joy of winning, and the fun of meeting builders old and new from around the world for one whirlwind weekend of competition, sportsmanship, technology and excitement!

You know you've had your eyes on a medal ever since you started competing, now's you chance to go for the gold (or add another one to your collection!)

With over 70 different events to choose from, you don't even need to stick to the old same-old same-old. Done sumo? Why not try a Mechwarrior? Tired of Antweight combat? Make an art bot! Need an easy way to bribe the judges? Build a cocktail robot! We've got something for everyone. As always, RoboGames encourages young engineers to come out and show their stuff in our 10 no-cost Junior League events.

The world is a big confusing place, there are wars, famine flood, fire and terrible economies, but there's nothing like the world's largest open robot competition to cheer everyone up! See the future, invent the future at RoboGames! Full details are here:
