Thread: wheels and motors help needed!

  1. #11
The motors are designed to work with our mounts. Our mounts lock the ball bearing in position so it sends the power to the output shaft. Do you still have all of the bearings in the motors and how have you mounted them?

the motor are just mounted with 2 pieces of polycarb cut out too fit over it and too keep it in place

forgive my lack of knowledge but what do you mean by locked?

As soon as any load like the your robot is placed on the wheels the gearbox will slip unless you put something to stop it.

This can be done with an O ring (still provides torque limiting) or some grub screws which are better because you can get all the torque the motor can give.

The multiple sets of instructions will tell you how to do it.

If you put the ball bearings in then it will work but it will act as a torque limiter which can be less than ideal in a pushing match.

Grub screws are the best bet.

As long as the bearings are locked into position, like they are when using the Robo Challenge mounts, then there is no difference between using ball bearings or grub screws. They will not slip.
