Thread: Spinners

    I've had a evil thought... wouldn't you be able to use a glow engine http://www.modelmaniacsonline.co.uk/cat ... ubCatID=96
like this one as a spinner drive; ie its alot cheaper (engine + fuel tank + servo) and you don't have to have a gearbox ( it's very powerful.)
Who think's it is a good idea?

i would have thought you couldn't use them actualy, i think the robo challenge guys dont allow IC engines due to the fuel releasing fumes or somthing? (or didnt when i last heard, been out of the loop for a while) and they are the only E.O's that allow spinners ATM...exept for rebel robots but i havn't heard much from them recently

It's usually the event hosts that don't allow internal combustion engines. The other problem is that the fuel used in those engines burns with an invisible flame (if i remember right). That would cause a number of safety concerns.

James did design his warhead replica predator around a big nitro engine to power the disc. Building the robot to take the engine and work well wasnt very hard - but the problem lies in the arena. Class 2 arena's need to be so well sealed so that nothing can escape that it makes running an IC engine not possible without a large extraction unit. Alot of venues would also not allow it.
