why didnt you just buy the motors from robochallenge, and save yourself the time (unless you wanted free batts)Originally Posted by Bodge Job
I think this is almost the same as saying why didn't he buy himself a ready built robot?Originally Posted by elobire
because its £5 cheaper per motor and my dad needs a new battery for his drill so I gave him the drill batterys which are cheaper than the ones he would have bought.![]()
its not really the same, its just like buying a motor for you robot.Originally Posted by zoll
it would just save alot of hassle of taking them apart and fitting grub screws, unless of course you wanted the chucks and batts.
Ah but taking them apart is one of the best bits
Nothing like mindlessly destroying a new and perfectly usable object to salvage one part of it for the purpose of entertainment!
lol took me about a hour trying to get to the screws underneath the handle. by the time i had the motor their was nothing left of the casing that resembled a drill.Originally Posted by k_c_r
Yep, I have a nice cordless drill with about eight spare batteries and counting!! Could carry on drilling for days if i wanted toOriginally Posted by Bodge Job

Yes why would I pay for a more when I get more entertainment and spare parts from buying them for cheaper.
Sorry to ask, but what is Hardox?
a form of steel that is designed to operate as a wear plate. It is used commercially in JCB digger buckets and bodies making it very tough. It can be a pain to machine if you dont have an angle grinder and some decent drill bits and some patience but it is somewhat of a standard if you are making a ramming box as its one of the few materials cheap enough to hold up against all but the craziest spinners.
