Thread: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots

Yes it will be brought to events when its done,

disc on 180 weighs 650g and the chassis with everything also weighs 650g

  2. #582
    650g!

My motors, esc's and battery weigh more than that! How on earth did you make a running robot with chassis and wiring for 650g!

  3. #583
What's your chassis made of? Might want to use plastics for that size. Also the MFA's are pretty heavy if I remember correctly?

i know its a rule to not have a weapon but ive seen that you need to have the intent for damage so what about using those motors that PJ is using for his spinner for a full body hammer? how would that go down?

My chassis is 1.9mm Ti, grade 4. Weighs around 250g I don't think I could do that any lighter given the shape and size.

The motors are 80g each which doesn't sound like much, but could do with being more powerful.

@Matt the Brushless I'm using has an impressive RPM but not much Torque so I don't think it would fair well for drive, plus bi-directional brushless ESC's are expensive.

    then spinner it is

Ah ok, nothing's going to touch your chassis then, OK well maybe 180. Is it invertible as-is?, hard to tell from the picture with the blade on.

@Matt, how many robots are you planning on building?!

  8. #588
The HDPE may be a little vulnerable and the wheels are exposed, infact I think it's weakness will be horizontal spinners (so 180..) but as long as the blade is spinning hopefully nothing will get near.

Yes it is invertible, at the moment the bolt the blade is mounted onto is too tall so when the bot is upside down / right way up, this touches the floor before the wheels. I wanted to keep it that way for the test so I could get at least 2 nuts on and reverse crank them. Really didn't want to blend the cat....

But for the finished version I'm putting a split pin through the top nut so I can trim it down. The whole structure chassis and blade is shorter than the diameter of the wheels. I'll upload a photo soon of it fully assembled.

ive got a few in mind. ive got 2 fw's, probably a third, then maybe a bw, thats all im planning for now
