Thread: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots

Yes mate i got a pic a few days ago next to a cup for scale, also thanks to gary for showing me a website what works out the KE energy for spinning disc and its coming out at 4.4KJ what is even very good for a featherweight so this should be fun! also a video of the first spin up on a flat lipo and half throttle

Half throttle AND flat lipo?!!
I'm just going to bin my kilobot chassis now and be done with it

Although there may be a ray of hope that could be revealed by this question: Kenny, are you putting a magnet in it?

  3. #303
nope i wanna see it fly!

kenny thats rate good, but ya no its gonna fly off as soon as it hits something :P

  6. #306
Woah, surely it's got to be clocking surplus of 10,000rpm for that much stored energy?

  7. #307
17000rpm 4.4kj is awsome considering 360 is 18kj and the original hypnodisc was only about 6kj.

  8. #308
Lets imagine that hit the wall and the robot inherited most of the energy, it'd fly off at a (pointlessly theoretical) 270km/h.. here's gambling something breaks instead =p

Here's my attempt- decided to go for something a little bit different this time.

It is a 2 wheel drive robot with an interchangeable weapon bay at the front- i've got 6 different setups planned- the first one has been built and fitted- a drum spinner

    Heres the stats

    Name- not sure yet
Weight: 1.275kg at the moment- will be around 1.35kg with the second battery fitted
    Length: 20cm
    Width: 21cm
    Height- 5cm (with no weapon)
    Drive- 2x MFA 30:1
    Speedo- Sabretooth 10A
    Battery: 2x 1000mAh 2 cell LiPo
Weapon Setup 1: 200g spinning drum with 6 teeth powered by a large brushed motor on 1:1 ratio- Blue speedo to control it
    Armour- 5mm HDPE

More weapons coming soon- i'm hoping to make an upgraded version of the drum with a better made drum and a brushless setup to give it a bit more power- this one seems to work reasonably well to start off with.

I'll get a video of it running online tomorrow but heres a photo of it as it is right now
