Thread: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots

  1. #231
Well I had a kilobot back in July 2006 so nnnaaaaaah to you all!!
Ok so it weighed 1.27kg instead of the 3kg it was supposed to, wasn't very good at what it was meant to do (sumobot), had 2mm-3mm polycarb armour and wheels held on with hot glue but hey......

Hows the arena coming tom? Just ordered my parts..

  5. #235
    all frame and floors done
    just needs polycarb
then once its been used a bit and we see what some robots are like ill make arena hazards to suit cos dont know what physical size most will end up being so will have to wait and see.

i think it'd be cool to have pit eventually one that goes up n down aswell

  7. #237
Is there a maximum size rule? My design means it might be pretty wide.

  8. #238
Don't think there is Dave, not yet anyway. I think it's pretty much a case of weight being the biggest size restraint. However (I'd need to read through the posts again to check) I think the arena is something like 2m square so as long as it's smaller than that you should be fine. What's your design like? Or you keeping it under wraps until it's nearer completion?

EDIT: Wow, this topic's up to 16 pages already? Quite impressive for a class that hasn't fought yet

Don't know really lol just ordered some motors and wheels n such Im thinking of a 2wd verticle single tooth invertable drum with a welded watercut ti chassis and carbonfibre armour. I'll see what's the best shape I can make with all the bits when they turn up you going to make one jamie?

use the titanium as the armour and the carbon fibre as the chassis.

Carbon fibre is very stiff but terrible when dealing with impacts and shocks due to this face. Titanium is much better as its able to bend.
