Unfortunately still not had anything - has anything been posted out & was I on.the mailing list?
Sorry Ceri, this was delayed due to a number of factors including my work commitments. News letter and memberships will be going out at the end of the month.
Thanks

Hazard regression.
I haven't been to any live events yet, but I was wondering if this methodology has been applied.
Hazards (including House Robots) in the original Robot Wars series were really there, because at the beginning, the robots were too weak and slow to fight decisively.
By series 3, the pit was open for the first two rounds, but then the Heat Final had it closed. This made sense, because in the first two rounds, a lot of the more ineffective robots would be fighting each other, and the pit allowed a way to finish a match that would drag on. By the Heat Final, the thinking would be that the competition was strained down to the stronger robots, and the pit would just cheapen a good battle. Similarly, this could be applied to other hazards: house bots, spikes/buzzsaws, low walls (though it never was for some reason).
I think this concept should have been taken further, and could be in the more ambitious live events with lots of TV style hazards, because it means that the robots have to prove they are the best through their own power as the competition goes on.
It would stop flippers dominating if the inner walls were progressively raised throughout a competition, for example.
thats a cool idea and i would love to see that![]()

It's up to the event organisers not the FRA to decide on the hazards and format of competitions
What is the FRA up to nowadays?
