Thread: Talk to the FRA

    Hi Jonno

A walker is about the only thing that will get across that rough old arena floor of yours

I think the leg system that was used in Anarchy would be a good minimum standard It had a good walking gait and was robust enough to survive the rigours of combat it involved two cranks per leg one to lift the leg and place it on the ground the other to move the robot along and return the leg to the start position, the robot had 8 legs in total, 16 cranks and a mile of chain. It was slow and not that manoeuvrable but that's walkers for you.

So there you have it Jonno Anarchy good enough for Robot Wars, Is it good enough for you

does anyone have a decent picture of anarchy's walking mechanism? All I've been able to find is off angle tv shots by robot wars camera men.

half of me says woohoo, can't wait to make a stupidly powerful fbs but the other half says that it just wouldn't feel like i was making a walker

Don't make a spinner make something else

That way you could go to more events and for the UK champs Change over to an angle grinder type weapon diamond type disc that won't break. works for me

Target audience Craig, asking gary not to make a spinner is like asking child not to eat sweets.

For what it's worth if I were to draw a line between what is a practical walker design, and what is a mechanism just for the weight advantage I would probably draw the line here.

    not quite a walker

Perhaps we could define that a walker must have at least 2 axis of motion? Eg at least two pivots per leg. Something like that?
