Mark I like a creative tournament concepts, and this is one, but as it is now there are some hits and some misses in this tournament.

    first of all...

The collision between the FRA and ARC community back in the days was a very real one, a nasty conflict that got out of hand and one that luckily is a thing of the past now. Germany and France never have a brawl for old times sake either. Reading the title genuinly shocked me in a not again type of manner. Even though everybody has matured since then, I wouldnt like to touch this arguement again if it isnt nescessairy.

With that out of the way, I dont mind the idea of a tournament that involves 2 types of stats, its an original idea. I dont see how your tournament is structured though. You get 4 robots with 2 sets of stats each, how does it continue from there?

...I'd like to say at this point I think this tournament is reopening old wounds, and it's quite possibly the most monumentally bad idea you have ever come up with...in my opinion it is very difficult to take the complexity of an FRA design and cram it all into a set of ARC stats, and while I have nothing against the ARC stat system other than that (speaking as a silver medallist in the superheavyweight once :P) I have no intention whatsoever of entering this.

i may be fairly new to fan fic, but from what iv heard the fra vs arc moment was not a perticualy good thing, and i have no interest in starting a fight (or being involved in one for that matter) and opening up old wounds is just gonna lead to trouble (in the words of malcum in the middle dynamite points at arc/fra kid with matches points at this torney)
however the idea of a torney with 2 sets of stats both confuses and interests me, its certainly a unique idea, but where does it go from here? can you please describe the format to us? tbh if you got rid of the arc vs fra thing i might beinterested in joining this torney if you can convince me
like you said, arc and the fra seem to be getting along okay, i think we should just leave it at that

Mark, seriously, the feud between ARC and FRA is (largely :P) over, and it wasn't a *good* thing. Doing something like this will only cause the two communities to start fighting each other again, and not with their bots. And I don't think any of us want a relapse of that.

If you go through with this tournament, you're going to look like more of an arse than you already appear to be...

I hate to double but I can't edit my post but all the same I'd like to expand on it...

Martijn. Joey. You two have been involved with ARC in the past. Your existence (and success) there proves that FRA and ARC members can communicate civilly. Why, for some reason, does that all now go to crap, right after it's just been proven that we are fully capable of doing this like gentlemen? You two of all people should especially know this. Nobody really cares about the drama that happened ages ago, Chris (Co-Admin of ARC, or is he the Head Admin? Hell not even I know how the chain of command goes down there) doesn't even remember any instance of it. And to solidify what I posted earlier, all four members representing ARC (Myself, Alex, Chris, Josh) Are nothing but enthusiastic about this tournament and not a single one of us has any intention of provoking flame wars. We don't want any drama, you don't want any drama, so there won't be any drama, bottom line.

I'm truly puzzled as to why you all are so insistent on keeping the communities separated, isolated from one another's existence, when absolutely no desire for trouble is on either end. What good does that do? Even if things truly WERE as bad as they used to be several years ago, which is truly not the case as all, seeing as how Martijn and Joey were involved in, why have this large invisible barrier of hate surrounding us? Nobody wants it there, keeping it there doesn't accomplish anything, so why the hell are we doing this to ourselves?

As said earlier, this really isn't the behavior I expected from a proposal to bring the FRA and ARC communities together, and quite frankly, I'm rather disappointed. Martijn, Joey, even if you two DIDN'T enter ARC and do very well in tournaments there [Joey, I know you clashed with the writers a few times, please don't think anything about that, it happens all the time, even between ARC staff members and/or regulars] then you two should have had the sense to realize that this is a proposal of peace, not war, now let's go smash some robots and have some fun. To react so negatively to a perfectly harmless tournament that can do nothing but benefit the two communities [especially if this is the way FRA is going to act every time ARC is bought up], well, I'm just disappointed, because it's not like you two. You guys know better, because you've seen it with your own eyes. I can't force you guys to see things a certain way, but I really wish you would see this tournament for what it is, just a bit of fun. We can help Mark make this happen and have some fun with it, possibly have some ARC guys get acquainted with the guys at FRA and vice verca, or we can just sulk away from a perfectly good opportunity and continue to act this way any time somebody mentions FRA and ARC in the same sentence, all the while recalling memories nobody cares to remember.

Now, I know I said I'm upset by this behavior, and, well, that's because I am, but it's Christmas, so I'll make you guys a deal. Either enter the tournament or agree that we really need to stop acting this way and see the ARC community as our ally rather than bitter enemy (they've shown no intentions of hostility to us, shouldn't we return the favor)? And I'll forget about the whole thing. Now who's ready to convert all this negativity into some positivity?

If you look more closely to my reply Tony, and also read this one which Im gonna use to explain myself, you may find my opinion here is a bit less black and white than how you see it. I called it a creative tournament and said I have nothing against the concept of having 2 sets of stats (read: ARC stats vs FRA stats). A good idea. And Im willing to enter it in fact, but not until Mark explains how it will be set up.

If you go by the opening post here, it will be a tournament of merely 4 FRA community bots with 2 sets of stats, 1 of which is ARC style. It is not explained what this ARC style is (I know, but lots of FRA'ers dont) nor is explained that there will also be 4 ARC community bots involved, which I didnt know until 5 minutes ago when I read Tony's post. On the FRA we've been active the last 2 years or so coaching newcomers in making new tournaments, and these pointers, as well as my last paragraph in my previous post here are nothing but helpful criticism, Im sorry if I sounded otherwise.

Now for the ARC vs FRA community thing... I like both FRA and ARC, make no mistake. In my post I said nothing at all against ARC, and I dont want to bring up this conflict at all. Mark mentioned it, and I just responded that Id rather keep it out of this topic altogether. Im cool with this type of tournament, but not to settle past collisions. Thats how I interpet Mark's opening post and I would rather have a clean FRA style vs ARC style tournament with no mentions of past conflicts thrown into the mix. Thats what I wanted to advise Mark.
