Yeah i heard something about micro switches but just thought thed get anhilated, id be very interested to see the wiring diagram if you can remember it.

Would the 24V 250W motors off here http://www.electricscooterparts.com/motors.html be a safe bet, im sure i could probably find some in the uk on ebay or something but that just the first place I looked.

I was planning to go the speed controller route but havent got much experience choosing speed controllers. I am using the wotty 100 for my drive. So could anyone recomend something that would easily deal with this?

for the speedo it really depends on the motor you decide upon and therefore how much current it will draw and a budget helps

also on that microswicthes bit you could position so the handle of what ever you deicde to use as the 'ax'e will switch them on and off so less force (i think) will hit them

maybe you could put the microswitches on a spring so that it wont get smashed, but im sure that making sure it wont break will be hard.

i also would like to see that wiring diagram if you dont mind drawing one. my brother is obsessed with axes and wants the second robot we make to have one.

Yeah should've clarified that I was referring to the handle part too, wouldn't want the sharp blade of the axe attacking the poor microswitches

Will get a diagram drawn up and posted soon

Well I was gonna draw a diagram up that night, then realised that the old diagram I had for wiring limit switches was a bit, err, incorrect! But I'm down home for a weekend so can dig out the correct diagram and get it drawn up
