Thread: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary

    Welcome back.

    FEATHERWEIGHT MELEE

    From Portsmouth, in Hampshire, Flow!

    A wedge shaped robot with a powerful flipper yet to be tested in Robot Wars. 2WD and electric motors give it fast speeds, but its light and has a limited CO2 supply.

    From Colchester, in Essex, Skink!

    The team entered the New Blood competition with Pressure. This is a 4WD box with a CO2 powered flipper on the front. It is slow at 8mph and made from plastic. How long will that hold up?

    From Texas, in the USA, Starfighter!

    From the dark side comes this wedge with a rear flipper and made from steel. It's the slowest in the battle at 2mph though.

    Roboteers, stand by!

    B1: Flow, Skink
    B2: Starfighter
    House Robots: Matilda and Sir Killalot

    3-2-1: Activate!

    Flow and Skink head straight for Starfighter, who gets off to a slow start. The slowest in the fight, really. Flow gets under and pushes Starfighter towards the wall! It FLIPS! Starfighter JUST stays in! Flow has flipped itself over! Starfighter is on its wheels again, but not for long as Skink lifts it into the air! Flow self-rights and heads towards the two. Skink pushes Starfighter into the CPZ! Matilda is waiting! Starfighter needs to get away...OH! It got hit by the flywheel of Matilda and was sent flying out of the CPZ! These robots are very light, so they fly easily! Skink backs away, but pursued by Flow who flips it over! Skink self-rights. A battle of the flippers now. Is Starfighter still moving? It landed right way up after Matilda hit it, but the armour is damaged and I think its immobolised! Skink pushes Flow towards the flame pit, but Flow escapes and swings around to flip it! Skink gets out of the way and Flow flips itself over! It self-rights again, though and comes back on the attack. Skink presses the pit release button. Meanwhile, Refbot counts out Starfighter. They didn't last very long, did they?
    1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!
    Sir Killalot moves in to get rid of Starfighter. Flow slides under Skink and flips it! Skink lands back on its wheels, but how long can it keep this up? It turns to get at the sides of Flow and does so, lifting Flow onto its side! Flow flips, and lands on its back! It self-rights, but Skink is waiting and pushes it across the arena! Flow pushes back though and breaks free. Skink gives chase. Meanwhile, Starfighter is being shown across the arena by Killalot and...over the wall it goes! It leaves Flow and Skink left. I think Flow has been the more aggresive. It slides under Skink and flips it over once more! Flipping itself over as well! Flow seems to powerful for itself. They both self-right, and Skink swings around to try and retaliate, but Flow backs away. Skink follows, or does it? Waiting its moment, perhaps? At the controls, Harry Orr and Mike Hamilton Macy. Or are they? Has all that flipping around by Flow damaged the insides? I don't think they can move in a straight line anymore! Flow gets under again and THROWS it into the angle grinder! Skink, on its side against the wall. It self-rights, but isn't moving freely. Refbot comes in.
    1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!
    That's a shame, but Flow goes through to the featherweight final! Killalot gets Skink in his grasp and lifts it into the air! Where is he going to take it? Towards the pit? He drops Skink, and down they go.

    Cease!

    Starfighter struck down. Skink sunk.
    Flow goes through to the featherweight final!

    So, we'll have the final later but first, the heat final:

    Firestorm V VS Traffic Warden

    I'll wait until Steven returns for his tactics. Also, I have a terrible feeling I've made a lot of mistakes. For one, Starfighter's speed does say 2mph, but it could just be a mistake. Also, Matilda. In the Dutch Robot Wars, there was a three part clusterbot called V32. When one part was immobolised, Matilda hit it with her flywheel and sent it flying into the camera and out of the arena. Between the three parts, each must have been between 20-30kg. If she did that to a 20kg robot, then what can she do with a 12kg robot? Can someone look at this and point out any mistakes, please

    Worteldriekwadraat (which translated to squarerootofthreesquared) didn't have three equal parts. The most weight was given to the part with the flipper in it. It was one of the lighter ones that got smashed in the polycarb so hard the the wheel left a print on it.

    Firestorm 5 VS TRAFFIC WARDEN
    Aim for the rear, clamp on tight and pit the bugger ASAP. Traffic Warden doesn't like wedges, especially ones as successful as Firestorm. Let's just hope my good speed and manoueverability will pay off.

    They were all kind of sort of around the 35 kg mark
    Even the part from Alex? I can't imagine where that weight went then? The motors?

    Tactics time is over

    HEAT FINAL

    From Durham, in Durham, Firestorm V!

    From Glasgow, in Scotland, Traffic Warden!

    Roboteers, stand by!

    B1: Firestorm V
    B2: Traffic Warden
    House Robots: Growler and Cassius Chrome

    3-2-1: Activate!

    Firestorm V is the favourite here, but Traffic Warden could still pull it out of the bag. They run into them, but get flipped over! It's invertible, Traffic Warden, so that won't harm it. They try and get to the back of Firestorm V to grab it and push it around, but Firestorm V swings left and Traffic Warden goes up the front again. Over it goes! Turning away now, Traffic Warden. Firestorm V gives chase. Sliding under and pushing it into the angle grinder! Traffic Warden against the wall! Firestorm V gets under and NO! They don't flip them out. Traffic Warden is back on its wheels and now it quickly turns to get at the back of Firestorm V. Nudging Firestorm V, but the number 4 seeds dodge the attack and turn to flip Traffic Warden again. But Traffic Warden has got the front of Firestorm in its grasp and starts to crush in! Firestorm V need to get out there! Pushing it into the arena wall! Are we going to see another seed fall? Traffic Warden tries to pull Firestorm V away, but they pull back! Into the CPZ! Cassius Chrome is there and he shows Traffic Warden the way out! Off it goes. Firestorm V escapes as well as Growler comes in! Very fast, Growler. Traffic Warden turns around to try and clamp the rear of Firestorm V, but Firestorm V is very manouvrable. Two good robots here. It is very close so far. Traffic Warden goes up the front of Firestorm V again and is flipped over! They recover and go on the attack again. Firestorm V around the side this time! Pushing Traffic Warden into the pit release button! Traffic Warden flipped once more, but escapes. If they get hold of Firestorm V, they could push them into the pit and that would be a shock! Firestorm V slides under again, but Traffic Warden gets lucky and clamps onto it! Like a crab holding onto its prey! Firestorm V flips it away, though. Traffic Warden manourves around the back and almost had a chance there, but Firestorm V counters and slides under Traffic Warden once again. Pushing them towards the pit and FLIPPING them in! Traffic Warden's hopes go up in smoke. Firestorm V is the winner and goes through to the grand final!

    Cease!

    Tactics for next heat are welcome

    And before anyone asks, I looked at both robots before this fight was written. I thought about their strategies, weaknesses and strengths. Please do not accuse me of putting the seeded robots through because of that. I don't do things like that

    Ooh, tactics, yes. I'll revise my earlier ones.

    Surgeon General vs. Ge5orce

    Obviously since Ge5orce can't do much by simply flipping me, it'll try and go for the OOTA. In this case I will stay away from the walls, and try to dodge around him if he chases me to get the disc spun up. Once it's spun up, Ge5orce won't have too fun of a time, let me tell you. Wreck the flipper and wheelpods, try to jam something.

    Though if there are weak-ish house robots in the arena, care to have a go at them Andy?
