Really good! Congrats!Think its the fastest spinning weapon on a featherweight in the UK so far now .. if anyone knows the weight/OD/RPM Of touro feather in the US id like to know... as thats the kinda effect i was aiming for.
Actually, Touro Feather is Brazilian, Rio de Janeiro, but we do compete on the US (Robogames and Combots) besides Brazilian events - which by the way you are all invited to attend!
So about the numbers. The latest Touro Feather spins its 4.3kg drum at 15600 (measured, 16K theoretically). Since 2009 the drum have a single S7 tool steel tooth - about 25mm x 25mm x 190mm - counter balanced by a Tungsten bar. The tooth is profiled like an hourglass and fits on a similar shaped channel on the drum (306 stainless steel), leaving about 12mm out, then everything is welded.
There is a relation between the speed of the robot, rotational speed of the weapon, number of teeth and bite / grinding. It is on the RioBotz Combat Robot Tutorial somewhere... Any way, in 2008 it had two teeth at >20K RPM and lots of grinding.
BTW, this is one of the best topics in all of the forums I participate, congratulations!
Cheers,
Eduardo
Hey Eduardo long time no see!

jeez you really raised the bar there! would love to see some pictures of the latest one if possible? I take it you kept having trouble with the ali drum/s7 teeth combination even though you had the teeth dovetailed into the drum?
would love to come to the states to compete... would want to persuade a few more UK roboteers to join me though... traveling to california this year on holiday... so maybe 2014 could be a good year.
On another note.... 360 IS BACK IN ACTION;
Awesome, you found another ESC that worked?
Hello,
Loving the progress with everything so far.
Have you tried out 720's drive motors yet?
Could you tell me how you perform?
Thanks
Archie
720 has been running for a while.
thanks alex but I kind of wanted daves (mouldy is a dave right?)view on them
having not been to many events I don't really know peoples names or faces
when I build a feather weight I will know the look of dissapointment on peoples faces as I smash their robots!
so any opinions on these banebots motors (not to hijack your thread of wonderfully machined robots)
A mouldy is a Dave yes
The video that Alex posted kinda answers your quetion? I'm happy with them so far... I've just supported the rear of the motor just incase.
thanks guys.
these will definitely go on the list of concideration
720 has amazing speed and torque!
does its drive run on 5s? (sorry if that's a stupid question)
What motor does 720 use for it's drum?
