Right got the new motor in along with the castle creations ice 160 esc and did a few spinup tests and noticed it wasnt that great, so hooked it up the built in data logging to my laptop and messed about with the motor and current settings and now it seems spot on, got to give it to the castle creations guys they've built one of hell of an esc and im really happy with it so far. Did a quick spin up test so i could see the graph, below is a quick shot of it.
That was spinning the motor up, then down to half speed, back upto full.. then down to nothing upto full really fast so i could see were the current limiter kicked in.. and true to the programing in the esc it cuts in just were i set it to...
But as you can see the continuous speed of the disc (you can enter your gear ratio so it works it out for you) is just under 4300 rpm... but it was still going up a little when i took the throttle off and the current needed to spinup is 256amps... not surprised really. Also it shows the voltage drop of the lipo is negligible so im happy with that's performance.
To anyone thinking of going to brushless i would highly recommend this esc!
Next thing i want to do is do a spin up to full speed test, run it there for 10 seconds then spin it down to see what the current and voltage evens out to.. Id also like to have a look at it after a fight to see how things are performing. At the moment its looking like i could possibly do with a slightly better lipo pack, but the one Ive got will be fine for this weeks show at gadgetshow live.
...i better stop messing about with data logging and put the thing together![]()
