Well, you have to throw your weight around if you want to have any fun, so let's throw out the superheavies!

Superheavyweight Melee 1
Revolver vs. Drive vs. Toro vs. Ziggy

From Glasgow, Scotland...Revolver!
We all live in a Yellow Submarine...oops, sorry. A nasty horizontal disc on this Beatles-inspired box on wheels. Can run either way up, has good armour and good drivetrain. Could be tricky to turn though with those wheels bunched up back there, and the wheels are exposed as with all invertible machines...could its misery be a LP?

From Pontefract...Drive!
Oh...dear. Another music-inspired robot. :P And it's the thinnest superheavyweight you'll ever find. 9cm in height, with 8 S28-400 MagMotors powering 4WD making for a very powerful machine indeed, and manoeuvrable too with its front castors. A rather-trapezoidal box with a hinged wedge in front, it has 2 tool steel spikes surrounding the wedge to impale opponents. Hardox and Grade 5 titanium armour this beast as well, so don't get under this machine's wheels, or guess 'who's gonna drive you home' in the binbag?

From the United States of America...Toro!
This Battlebots Season 4 champion is no bull; it's got a wickedly powerful flipping arm and a heavy one at that. Steel and polycarbonate armour are the main defensive materials on the Inertia Labs robot, and it can push you around all day with its massive rear end. However it's known to have reliability problems.

From Canada...Ziggy!
Like its fellow flipper Toro, Ziggy has powerful weaponry, but unlike Toro, its flipper is a 4-bar mechanism that sends opponents away as well up in the sky! Fast and heavily armoured, it'll show you around the arena before flipping out, as several RoboGames superheavyweights have found out! It has had trouble keeping its weaponry operating, though.

Superheavyweights? We'd better call in King Leer and Exa-Gore-Ic to deal with them, then.

Superheavies, AWAY!
Toro and Drive have the fastest start, and Drive heads straight for Toro! The bull isn't really concerned and rushes out to meet him head-on! As Ziggy shoots out and Revolver's disc spins up, Drive and Toro collide in the middle of the arena, barely avoiding the arena saws, but it's Toro who prevails here and the flipper gets underneath Drive's hinged wedge! Before Toro can do much, however, Drive...drives backwards, only to meet an aggressive Ziggy and gets ridden under immediately! With a flick, Ziggy throws Drive across the arena, and Drive collides with the floor with a rather wincing CRUNCH. There seems to be a team-up here between Toro and Ziggy, as Martijn and Samuel are talking in their booth. Drive is at it again, however, and this time manages to get right up underneath Toro's flipping arm, but with another ram from Ziggy gets pushed off-course and Toro's free. At this point, Revolver enters the scene, flywheel spun up and looking deadly! Steven decides that Ziggy would make a fine target and heads straight for it! Ziggy doesn't seem to be interested in Revolver however and continues to harass Drive, who's just been given a massive toss by Toro into an empty CPZ! Before Drive can re-orient, Ziggy scoops it up, and lets fly an enormous flip! Drive sails over the barrier and ends up out of the arena very quickly indeed! After a tense second of disbelief, Joey sighs and sets down his controls. Steve looks perturbed, seeing how fast the two flippers disposed of the rammer, but gathers his courage and drives Revolver straight towards Toro, who turns about. Bad move, Toro?

CRASH!!!

The Hardox teeth smack against the flipping arm of Toro and carve a nice slice right into it, as Toro is flung deep into the CPZ! Ziggy takes advantage of Revolver's momentary recovery time and slides under Steve's machine! Taking it to the arena wall, Ziggy lets fly an enormous shot...but fails to get Revolver completely over the fence! Revolver bounces away and tries to get the blade spinning up again but an angry Toro is now in front of him and gets under the disc before it even has time to spin! Another flip sends Revolver against the arena wall, but it slides off rather quickly! However Ziggy is after it and pushes it into Exa-Gore-Ic's CPZ nearby, shoving the disced bot into the jaws of the house robot! Well...ah, there we go. Exa-Gore-Ic's jaws are wide open now and can crush the daylights out of Revolver, but Toro and Ziggy have other plans! Both of them rush to the opposite end of the arena and collide with King Leer! Could this be another house robot rebellion? As King Leer tries to push them away, Toro gets under and tries to flip it! And just barely succeeds! King Leer's turned turtle, the blades thwacking uselessly! The Watcher, after careful monitoring, decides he doesn't want to anger the massive flipper robots and decides to check on Revolver...but gets attacked next anyway! Ziggy is under the refbot and with another flick sends it flying out, too! Now no one can count out Revolver, but Revolver's dropped suddenly, and still mobile: Exa-Gore-Ic drives around Revolver and looks to be in a right state after that cheeky assault! But such attention has made both flipps target HIM next! As Exa-Gore-Ic grapples with Toro, Ziggy gets to its side and with one giant toss sends BOTH of them onto their sides! However, Ziggy didn't count on Revolver recovering so quickly, and Steve grins at the distraction as REvolver advances!

CRASH!!!

Sparks fly and so does Ziggy! Across the arena and into the wall, to be exact! A nice gash in the rear, that is indeed! But Ziggy's still moving perfectly fine! It comes after Revolver but the disced robot dodges and begins spinning up again! Ziggy pursues it, as Exa-Gore-Ic releases Toro, Toro still on its side, but only just. The side spike don't stop from being stacked fully, but - ah! Exactly! The flipper does the rest, over-balancing it! Toro's back in the game, with slightly crumpled sides but definitely still alive! Revolver turns to face Ziggy again, but Toro rushes in and attempts to get around Revolver's side! Steve finds this team-up quite aggravating and moves backwards, but Toro keeps going after it! Ziggy goes to move around the side again and Revolver has to back all the way into the wall to keep its weaponry pointed at its hounding enemies! Now Ziggy rushes him!

CRASH!!!

Ziggy's front gets slightly dented up, and it gets sent flying back, but the kick-back stops Revolver's disc completely, allowing Toro to move in and get under it without fear! The massive flipper sends Revolver onto the wall, but before it can slide all the way down, Toro gets under it again and with another giant toss, ejects a resigned Revolver from the arena!

CEASE!

Joey has to Drive home the hard way, while Revolver is more like a broken record now!
Toro and Ziggy advance to Round 2!

*in the pits*

Melissa: And that's it?
Martijn: Definitely.
Tony: So you're saying that your claws are pretty much indestructible?
Martijn: Indeed I am, Tony.
Tony: I'll just check out how really indestructible they are when we get robot fighting, how does that sound?
Martijn: Fine by me, Tony.
Melissa: Fighting words! Let's see if you guys back them up. Let's go!

Already - wait a second, was Megabyte's shell spinning before ACTIVATE was called? Have they cheated the system? We may never know, but it's spinning dangerously fast already and there's no possible way for Under Pressure to stop it now, unless of course he slams into him! Martijn turns around and exposes the rear end! At this point Megabyte moves forward, on the attack, and looking very, very -

CRASH!!!

- menacing!!! It's sent the 9th seed spinning away like a top, along with itself! But how about that armour? It's barely taken a dent! And you know what else has barely taken a dent? Megabyte's weapon speed! It's hardly slowed at all, but in comes Martijn and Under Pressure again to rectify that! Megabyte doesn't back down and bashes itself against the rear armour again!

CRASH!!!

OUCH! More sparks, but Megabyte's at half speed now and Martijn's bot hasn't been flung as far! Martijn quickly moves in and tries to stop the spinning shell, but the momentum of Megabyte's weaponry spins Under Pressure around, exposing the rear end again! Undaunted, Under Pressure backs into Megabyte and ricochets it into the wall! Megabyte stops spinning fully and Under Pressure chases it with the claws now! But...Megabyte seems quicker! It's escaped the crusher and looking very, very menacing...again! Again, Under Pressure turns and backs towards the full body spinner; the RFL HW champ obliges and greets Under Pressure with a slam!

CRASH!!!!

Ooooh! NOW there's damage! The crusher's rear has been ripped off completely, exposing the ram! And the force sends Under Pressure whirling away across the arena thrice more! As Megabyte spins back up to devastating speeds, Martijn takes aim at the pit release button and gets to it...but Megabyte is in close pursuit and before Martijn can escape, he's hammered by the spinning shell again!

CRASH!!!!

Now the ram takes a direct hit! But...it doesn't appear to be damaged, and Megabyte's stopped spinning momentarily! Under Pressure turns about and chases after it, but Megabyte is much too fast and gets away to spin up yet again! Ah, memories of Typhoon 2...now it comes back on the attack, and Under Pressure not wanting the ram to be attacked again approaches with the claws!

CRASH!!

And in my opinion that was a very good decision! Megabyte is trapped between the jaws, which sustained very little damage, and now they close! Megabyte's traction is removed, the shell pinned between the claws and body and unable to spin up! Martijn is grinning broadily as he has fought the good fight, and takes Megabyte to the pit! Tony is agonized, but tries vainly to fight the grip anyway. It's all for naught, and Megabyte meets the bottom of the pit!

CEASE!

Megabyte's RAM is in massive need of a power surge!
Under Pressure (9) advances to the Series Semi-Finals!
