need a piece 70cm x 80cm, 5 or 6 mm, good grade for hw chassis, cheap as poss in these hard times :wink:

I too am lookin for a plate of ally 6mm / 8mm for a heavy base plate....prices i have been quoted are crazy....can ya give me some pointers ??

i have just had a price which im not sure if it is cheap or expensive lol, its from a company up the road from me called shropshire aluminium, they have quoted me

6082T6 is Â£69.00 or in a softer grade 1050 Â£49.00

that is for 5mm 70cm x 80cm. is this the going rate? and im not sure if the grade is good enough.

Not a bad price, maybe slightly on the expensive side. Personally, I would offer them Â£60 as they are still making a a reasonable margin as I happen to know the wholesaler rate. Someone may know where to get it even cheaper of course, all depends on how hungry the supplier is.

I should have also said that 6082T6 is about 3 times harder and has nearly three time the tensile strength of 1050H14 making it great for a stiff chassis.
