Thread: Featherweight bar spinner

  1. #1
    Hi guys

Im selling a complete bar spinner system just needs a new motor. It was built for the 2006 UK champs as an interchangeable weapon for our Robo Challenge kits. However it never got used. Scince then its only been used to test on woods so teeth are still good.

The motor on the system is burnt out so youll need to put your own motor on. The bar is almost a meter long and weighs just under 4kg so would make a real nasty spinner. The teeth are slightly curved for a good engagment and are made from tool steel and keyed onto the bar. The gearbox is all ali aswell as the gearbox mount.

open to offers! il try and upload a pic to my profile soon

Its not a robot, it has no drive components, it is just a spinner set-up!

If you took the spinner off, there would be nothing! I think.

LOL @ Tom.. was thinking the same thing.

Be interesting to see a picture of it. What type of motor did you have on it before james?

James left a few critical details out, such as the length of the bar
James will post pictures and full specs soon, but it is about 950mm tip to tip, so i would say this is not for the total beginner as this thing is dangerous if not used correctly!
It was built around a 2500W angle grinder, using the end housing and gears. This was all mounted to a lightenened alminium mount with 4 large rubber dampners to adjust the angle and obsorb some of the shock from destroying one of our kits. These can be removed and the unit solidly mounted.
The motor we used to power it was a small motorbike starter motor, which we tacd to around 1000rpm at the bar. I would have though a mag would or similar would be a nice choice for this gearbox, maybe a big brushless.

Just to be clear, this is for the spinning bar, gearbox and mounting. There is no switching unit or power unit of any form.
