On the techcheck sheet it says.....

All wiring and terminals must be of a suitable size and secured
to prevent chaffing and shorting. All terminals should be
covered to minimise the risk of electrical shorts.

in my robot ive got wires lying around more so above the motors, ive got a few connections that are free to float- lets say, but not in a way that they, for example rub on anything or jam up the drive belts,

ive a few connections done with a crimping tool using spade connectors to extend wires or to connect for example the group of negitive wires for my batts from the speed controller and switcher and i have then taped them up using electrical insulation tape, and ive a few of the block connectors but they are screwed down.

does all of that seem ok?

can any one just clear this up for me?

Cable sizes are generally determined by the load you are pulling. What size cables have you used?

1mm - 15.5A
1.5mm - 20A
2.5mm - 27A
4mm - 37A
6mm - 47A
10mm - 65A
16mm - 87A

Thats based on the IEE regs and manufacturers info. Wouldnt worry too much about it if youre there or ther abouts on the RUNNING currents of the motors. Starting current is normally substantially more but only for a very short duration.

Both Cylon and BOOM! are wired in 1.5mm and it never gets hot.

The rest of the rules are nore about preventing shorts in the system. These can cause things to set on fire. Use your common sense. Generally if its exposed tape it up (Youll want to do that anyway). If itll get chewed up in a motor tie it down (Again youll want to do that anyway.)
