Thread: Velociraptor's Fanfic Tournament: The Comeback

  1. #171
And so, we finally reach the semi finals. Four robots have survived all their battles so far, but only one can be the champion - so lets get closer to finding out who it is! Our first semi final battle features two tracked robots: The May Tracks Has You (having beaten Nidhogg, Eternia and Achilles) and System Shock 4.0 (who beat Axe-o-Lotl, Under Pressure and Inferno)!
House Robots: Megaraptor & Drilla Killa Ultimate

    3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As the two tracked robots ran in for the first blow, System Shock 4.0 turned the wrong way as it went for its opponents side, allowing May Tracks to succeed in its own side attack! It pushed System Shock around in a circle for a moment before managing to get its wedge extender under the skirts, and shove System Shock towards Megaraptors CPZ! With a good flip, May Tracks catapulted its opponent straight into the House Robot, who turned and managed to grip System Shock in one claw, before lifting it aloft! As System Shock was dropped unceremoniously, May Tracks was waiting underneath - it moved quickly, ramming System Shock into the arena disc! System Shocks treads took a hit from the disc, but survived! As May Tracks advanced again, System Shock ran for a moment, just managing to keep ahead. Suddenly it stopped, reversed into May Tracks and fired its ramming spikes, shoving its opponent away! System Shock reversed into the side of its stunned opponent and fired the spikes again, but they didnt pierce the Hardox! It was, however, able to shove May Tracks against the wall and pin it!
After about 15 seconds of pinning, System Shock 4.0 fired its spikes again for good measure, but this allowed The May Tracks Has You to slip away! System Shock turned quickly and rammed May Tracks in the side, using its superior power to run it into Drilla Killa Ultimate! Like the ramming spikes, Drilla Killas drills only scratched the resilient Hardox, so it turned to wear away with its rear cone drill! Unfortunately, May Tracks reacted by flipping from under the cone drill! System Shock 4.0 continued to push however, leading to one big pileup in the corner! System Shock was underneath May Trackss skirting, but the combined weight of its opponent and the House Robot proved difficult to lift or move! The comical stalemate went on until System Shock 4.0 was told to back off - when it did, May Tracks gave Drilla Killa Ultimate one more taste of its flipper and rolled to safety! It turned to face the attacking System Shock, resulting in a head on collision! System Shocks drive motors proved superior, and May Tracks was quickly shoved backwards into the arena disc, spinning away, and having to react quickly to avoid System Shock pinning it against the wall!
The tables were suddenly turned, as The May Tracks turned into its reversing opponent and caught it side on again, shoving it into the disc before it could get under the skirt! As System Shock 4.0 was spun away, May Tracks ran after it, but only knocked it as it ran! Another chase ensued, before System Shock 4.0 turned and charged fearlessly! May Tracks tried to turn into its side, but mistimed the turn and missed System Shock again! The ramming robot, meanwhile, reversed into May Tracks and used its spikes once again, but this time May Tracks got out of the way before it could be pinned, and found itself in the perfect position to come in side-on! It shoved System Shock hard until it was under the skirts again, and then it was back to the arena disc! With a flip, System Shock landed on top of the disc, so its tracks and top armour took more damage, but both still held up! It was spun away awkwardly, allowing ample oppotunity for May Tracks to get underneath again, and just flip it against the disc again! System Shock 4.0 landed flat on its treads, now torn a little and leaving it a little wobbly! Before it could get away, May Tracks reappeared and slammed into it, this time ramming it into the pit release! Making sure it was well underneath System Shock 4.0, it carried its opponent to the waiting pit, and itself into the final!
    CEASE!

THE MAY TRACKS HAS YOU GOES THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL!

Now comes a much anticipated battle between two VFT champions: SoR X (who beat Flaming Hell, The 6isc and Wedginator Devilution) and Wedge Devolution (who beat Walk Dont Run 3 and a Half, Exodus and Troubloon 6)!
House Robots: Assassinator & The Martian

    3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
SoR X seemingly came on the attack - but ran right past Wedge Devolution as the flipper tried to turn and catch it, allowing itself to spin up! Wedge Devo threateningly advanced, managing to catch SoR X before it could come in at the side - the rim hit the wedge and side, and both robots parted forcefully! When they ran towards each other again, there was only a glancing blow! Wedge Devolution had ended up close to the pit, so SoR X went for the release! It failed to dodge its opponents front, however, but was only pushed for a moment before the rim hit the wedge again! In the next collision, the two robots became parallel, which only meant another blow for Wedge Devo! However, next time they met head on, and Wedge Devos wedge proved lower! It pushed SoR X right towards the open pit....and just missed! Instead, they hit the wall, and SoR X went skimming off in the wrong direction, hitting another wall on its journey! With its rim slowed, Wedge Devolution was now able to catch it properly, but the pit was now closed, so the nearest available hazard was Assassinator! Wedge Devo slammed SoR X hard into the House Robot, who brought both its axe and spikes into play, in a pileup almost as chaotic as in the previous battle!
In the chaos, SoR X was pushed off Wedge Devolutions wedge and made good its escape - by the time Wedge Devo caught up with it, the rim was spinning again! SoR X slashed across the champs front corner, tearing one end of the skirt! It spun round and tried to bring its flipper into play, but Wedge Devo ran into it head on again and came underneath the wedge! This time, it headed for the arena disc - upon impact, SoR X flew into its opponent, bounced off and went skimming across the floor! With its wedge rather scratched by the experience, Wedge Devo came on the attack, with SoR X aiming for the gap in the skirt. The two robots became parallel - and Wedge Devo was knocked again by the rim! SoR X turned, ran into Wedge Devos side....and the champ found itself experiencing what it had done to so many others, as it flew into the air and landed on its back! When Wedge Devo fired its flipper to selfright, SoR X struck with the rim - it didnt hit the rams, but knocked Wedge Devo for six, sending it tumbling awkwardly onto its wheels!
Wedge Devolution barely had time to think before SoR X hit it again, knocking it into The Martians CPZ! The paintwork on the wedge suffered even more at the hands of The Martians saws! Unfazed, Wedge Devo reversed back into its opponent, knocking itself loose but failing to knock SoR X into the wall! SoR X ran into Wedge Devos side, but couldnt get under the other, intact skirt, and the champion got away! It spun round as SoR X came in, and ran into the rim again, sustaining more damage but slowing it a little! SoR X backed off to spin up again, then reversed, trying to get into Wedge Devos side but failing, although it did land another hit on the front and spin Wedge Devo against the wall! SoR X ran into the undamaged skirt again - it didnt stay undamaged for long, as SoR Xs rim ripped it before Wedge Devo got loose, and charged SoR X into the wall itself! Unfortunately, after bouncing off, SoR X just ran away again to get back up to speed, undoing its opponents efforts! Seeing it move close to the pit, Wedge Devo took a detour and charged the release! Taking a chance, SoR X reversed back into Wedge Devo before it could turn to face it, ripping the left skirt even more! Carried along the side of its opponent, it was able to use the flipper again, neatly overturning it! When Wedge Devo selfrighted, it just landed on top of its opponent! Not wasting the oppotunity, SoR X charged straight at the pit! The VFT6 champion went falling in, with Andy almost driving SoR X in as well, in his excitement!
    CEASE!

SoR X GOES THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL!

    Playoff:
System Shock 4.0 vs Wedge Devolution

    Grand Final:
SoR X vs The May Tracks Has You

I particularly enjoyed writing these fights (the playoff and final look like theyre going to be great to write as well), so I hope you all like them too!

Very well written, Richie! Ill take Wedge Devolution to beat System Shock in a close judges decision, and then the one Im looking forward to. Itll be tough, but I think SoR might have the edge with the flipper as he can flip May Tracks over and then attack while May Tracks is inverted. SoR to win by KO, just before time runs out.

There will be a champion to beat after this, yes there will

...I cant really add anything to Kodys comments regarding my predictions, da man speak da truth.

And myself and Andy (whos having net problems atm) are in agreement at the extreme w00tiness of these fights, heres to many more in the future Richie. (...and also to me getting past round 1 next time...someday...)

Ah well, one VFT title is good enough for now. Bravo, AJ, youve bested me again.

    PLAY-OFF
System Shock 4.0 VS WEDGE DEVOLUTION

    DESTROY ALL HOUSE ROBOTS! BLARGH!
As for real tactics, once again, not much point in flipping an invertible bot. After my killing spree, stay passive and aim for the skirt corners. Scrape under the skirts and slam System Shock into the nearest hazard, preferebly the Pit.

As for the Grand Final, Im going to go for a shock and back the May Tracks to finally get its day in the sun.

Its been a delight having you back in action, Rich. Ill be back to reclaim my title next time.

Before we get to the grand final, its time for the playoff, for one of the losers in the last round to salvage some pride by getting the bronze medal? But will that robot be dethroned champ Wedge Devolution, or vicious rookie System Shock 4.0?
House Robots: Drilla Killa Ultimate & The Martian

    3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As System Shock 4.0 went on the attack, it was surprised to find Wedge Devolution ignoring it, but instead going for Drilla Killa Ultimate! Turning to face the cocky competitor, Drilla Killa found itself being flipped over from under its pincers! Unable to rest on its rear drill, it came back down on its back, only to be flipped against the wall by Wedge Devo! At this point, System Shock 4.0 caught up, ramming Wedge Devo from the rear: straining against its opponent, it surpassed the rear skirt and lifted Wedge Devo, carrying it away from the stranded House Robot into the arena centre, and managing to tip it over! It swiveled around to try and drive its spikes into the rams, but failed as Wedge Devo selfrighted too quickly! Still ignoring System Shock, the now former champ charged down The Martian, with its opponent still in hot pursuit! The Martian barely had time to scratch Wedge Devo with its saws before it was turned up on its side, and fell down onto its back! Again, this fun assault left Wedge Devo exposed to the more focussed System Shock, who rammed it from the rear again, brushing the stranded Martian aside!
Soon underneath Wedge Devolution again, System Shock 4.0 ran across the arena floor while lifting to tip the flipper over again, before shifting to try and catch Wedge Devo as it selfrighted! As it turned out, when Wedge Devo did selfright, it landed directly on top of its opponent, who went for a hard ram into the pit release to shift it! Wedge Devo was tipped by the force of the impact, before slowly resting on its back again - System Shock only managed a brief shove in the pits general direction before it selfrighted! However, once Wedge Devo did flip itself back over, System Shock 4.0 was still able to reverse in from behind, slowly shove the wedge towards the pit, then fire the ramming spikes to tip it over the edge! Both drivers were left celebrating: Liam for having won the bronze, and Steven for having triumphed over the feeble House Robots!
    CEASE!

SYSTEM SHOCK 4.0 WINS THE PLAYOFF!

So, this is it. The grand final of Velociraptors Fanfic Tournament: The Comeback. Its between two of the most impressive robots in this tournament, and certainly two of the best designed.
First into the arena is Son Of Ripper X, descendant of the VFT1 champion. With a flipping wedge combined with a spinning rim, this monster has already proved too much for Flaming Hell, The 6isc, Wedginator Devilution and Wedge Devolution. Can its design see it through one more battle, and win one more tournament for the Ripper robots?
It is soon followed by The May Tracks Has You, who has been using a highly effective combo of flipping, and going for its opponents underbellies with static spikes. After incapacitating Nidhogg and Eternia relatively easily in its first battles, it had a tougher time against Achilles and System Shock 4.0. This battle is sure to be even more difficult - how will it do?
House Robots: King Cobra & Ultimate Snakebite

    3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
SoR X began the final battle by swerving to one side to get its rim spinning, while The May Tracks Has You came after it quickly! Soon the two robots met, but May Tracks failed to get into a good position for a flip before SoR X swerved and whacked it on the side! Reacting quickly, May Tracks reversed away from the advancing SoR X before charging in again and firing its flipper: it was disoriented by the rim again, but SoR X was sent flying, bouncing off the floor but landing right side up! Before it could recover, however, May Tracks had run into its wedge, avoiding the rim and pushing it backwards! Fortunately, SoR X took only a slight scratch from the deadly spikes before it bounced off the arena wall to safety: it ran after May Tracks for a side attack, but wasnt quick enough! May Tracks turned into its opponent and flipped again, sustaining another scar but tipping it over and stalling the rim! This time, it was able to get in a good charge into the wall, and bring its spikes into play on one tyre, before flipping SoR X over again!
However, SoR X was still standing, and as May Tracks moved away, it managed to get a ram into the side! It couldnt get past the skirts, but it did manage to shove its opponent towards Ultimate Snakebite, who responded by striking a blow to the rear with its flywheel! May Tracks was knocked upwards, exposing its underbelly to SoR X, who eagerly flipped it over! It began pushing its opponent towards the arena disc just as May Tracks selfrighted, and bounced off the spinning rim before landing on the floor! SoR X reversed into it to cause more damage! However, May Tracks thought quickly, and reversed into SoR X as it was still close to the wall! The wall shuddered as SoR X was rammed against it to slow the rim some more! It still managed to bounce off as May Tracks came in with its front, but found itself caught between its opponent and the arena disc! As it was pushed into the arena disc and sent spinning away, May Tracks charged, managing to catch up with SoR X, get underneath it again, and perform its patented spike-n-flip attack! With tears in its tyres, SoR X was just a little wobbly, but still in the fight!
The May Tracks Has You aggressively attacked again, and when it just received another side blow for its troubles, it swerved and carried on charging, almost mis-timing the next flip! SoR X was tipped against the floor and bounced back and forth: May Tracks had plenty of time before it stabilised to come in for another attack, and rend the Vulkolan tread on the tyres again! Landing on its back after the flip, SoR X made a run for it to spin up again, but now it was wobbling more and moving a little slower! May Tracks quickly caught up with it, although it mistimed the flip again and got another blow from the rim! As SoR X attacked again, May Tracks dodged and successfully used the flipper again: this time, SoR X was carried into the wall and bounced off, still adding to the abuse the arena was suffering! Once on its wheels, SoR X was not able to dodge May Tracks in time, and took another ram, tear and flip from its opponent!
Once back on its wheels, SoR X dodged a harsh reverse from May Tracks and began spinning up again, but its wobbling still looked to have increased, and a Mauler dance threatened! AJ reluctantly turned the spinning rim off and fired the flipper to turn his robot over and make the wedge usable again! As May Tracks attacked, SoR X turned into it, and before May Tracks could give it a good shove, it got the flipper under the damaged skirting and overturned it again! It quickly began shoving May Tracks towards the pit release, only for its opponent to jump off the wedge again and land right side up! Running a short distance, May Tracks turned and advanced, this time dodging the wedge and running underneath SoR X easily, before shoving it back towards Ultimate Snakebite! Deciding one competitor was as good as another, Ultimate Snakebite aimed to clamp SoR X in its jaws, turning it over in the process! SoR X fired its flipper in an attempt to escape, flying into the wall, bouncing off and landing to the side of May Tracks!
The May Tracks Has You responded quickly, turning its front into SoR X, coming under the wedge and shoving it back across the arena to where King Cobra awaited! SoR Xs body was a perfect target for the axes, who hammered down mercilessly, although making a limited impression on the Hardox top! After one blow, however, SoR X slipped off its opponents wedge and ran into its side, only to find the skirting there was still intact! Nevertheless, it pushed May Tracks against King Cobra, who was happy to attack no matter who the victim was! After some straining, May Tracks escaped from the grip of its two adversaries, turned round again, and ran back into its advancing opponent! At this point, it seemed to decide enough was enough, and ran SoR X into the pit release! Carefully turning it around, it ran its damaged opponent forward....AND DOWN THE PIT! FRANK YELLED IN VICTORY AND HAD HIS ROBOT DO A QUICK VICTORY SPIN...
    CEASE!
....before running towards King Cobra and giving it a good flip against the arena wall! May Tracks looked set to go back towards Ultimate Snakebite, but was sternly told to stop by the officials!

So, in fourth place, the VFT6 champion, the simple but efficient flipping wedge by Steven MacGregor, WEDGE DEVOLUTION!
In third place, the ramming, lifting, spiking box wedge by Liam Eliot, SYSTEM SHOCK 4.0!
In second place, descendant of the VFT1 champion, the invertable spinner with a flipper attached by Andy Jackson, SON OF RIPPER X!
And in first place, the box-wedge armed with a flipper and wheel-shredding spikes, and the new VFT champion, by Frank Goacher, THE MAY TRACKS HAS YOU!

So, what of the future? Well, as Ive said before, I still need to think about whats coming next, but rest assured, there will in fact be something coming next in whatever capacity. Theres also a few changes that may be made: Im thinking of getting rid of the House Robots, which didnt really contribute a huge amount to the fights (and the arena flipper, which contributed even less).

A big thank you to all the sixteen people who entered, and see you again soon for more!

Meh, who cares about bad predictions if we get an awesome play-off and one hell of a grand final? Much applause and whistling to Richie for one cracking tournament.

If you feel up for another VFT, Richie, consider me already signed up.
