Does anyone think its worth increasing the number of spots to 16, or are there not that many people here?

12 could be an option - a happy medium
Youll definetly get another four for it at least. I would enter, but after recently trying out robot fanfic I found that I dont have as strong an interest in/dedication to it as I do for competing in the live event featherweights so I wouldnt want to fill space that could be had by someone who has more passion for it and would enjoy it more.
Best of luck for this new tournament though and welcome back to the forum
Hot diggity daffodil, youd better save room for the champ!
1. Wedge Devolution
SHAPE- low wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- sleek and shiny silver
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 75cm X 30cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front, 7mm for the rest of the robot. Fitted with Biohazard-style skirts on sides and rear, giving 0mm
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- As usual, the main weapon is a rear-hinged flipper. This is very similar to Chaos 2, except the blade at the bottom is bent ala Bigger Brother, allowing the flipper to have greater effect against bots with skirts or low centres of gravity. The flipper itself is powered by 2 X 80mm high pressure pneumatic rams, each running at 250psi. This should allow Wedge Devo to comfortably flip up to 1 tonne.
SRIMECH- The flipper can right the machine easily and the rear wedge should hopefully prevent a Chaos-style self-flip. Also, Wedge Devo is equipped with a grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent it getting stuck on its side
NOTES- flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, fast, manoeuvrable, difficult to get underneath, tough armour, good traction
WEAKNESSES- could prove a bit tricky to control, limited CO2 (like all other flippers :P)

2. Spin Dash Unleashed (formerly Metal Sonic Spin Dash)
SHAPE- skirted box, with rounded sides and back.
COLOUR- dark blue bodywork, with red-and-white striped skirting.
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 75cm X 20cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm all round, 10mm at sides and rear without skirts.
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- inner, 6WD
POWER- 2 x LEM-130s. These run at 36v and produce approximately 18hp.
WEAPONS- A horizontal Pussycat-style saw blade on the front. The blade is mounted on the underbelly ala Code:BLACK and is designed to chew up skirts and wheels. It is powered by an S28-150 Magmotor and runs at 3000rpm. Its 18hp and shape also makes it an excellent battering ram.
SRIMECH- invertible. The rounded sides and rear also prevent it getting beached.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag.
STRENGTHS- excellent traction, fast, tough armour, low weaponry, invertible
WEAKNESSES- untested, so-so manoueverability, saw blade less effective upside-down

So thats 11 so far - Ill see how many sign up in the next couple of days (looking at some other tournaments, theres still a few people around who might want to, but 16 will be the limit), and maybe chuck in some realies or give some robots byes into the second round. Thanks to everyone for their messages of re-welcome, btw.
Welcome back Richard! Great to see you again and congratulations for graduating. Its also great to see my favourite series of tournaments return. Ive got a couple of new designs Id like to try out for this tournament, so please save me a space.
