    We use 16mm axles on our feathers. Obsidians is close to 50mm solid steel I think.

    The flipper run has come to an end, as our newest Series Semi-Finalist has drummed his way through three tough rounds. The question is, who will join Ge5orce, Wedge Devolution, and newbie Paralyzation 2 in the Semis? Heat D will answer that for us!

    Round 1, Eliminator 1
    Cyclone Force 3 (7) vs. Rupture vs. Warhead vs. Pure Evil: Back to Basics

    From Suffolk, seeded number 7, Cyclone Force 3!
    Reached the semis last time, but suffered a Sheer Heart Attack at the fourth hurdle!

    Melissa: Right, we have a strong pusher here. Whats the plan?
    Chris: Well Ive decided to team up with Daniel against the other two. Im not really that scared of taking the fight to them.
    Melissa: And you have the scoop for this fight?
    Chris: Thats right. Daniel will take out Rupture so I dont have to worry, and even if I do get flipped, Daniel can right me.
    Melissa: All right, then. Have a good fight out there.
    Chris: Right. Can I have your phone number, by the way?
    Melissa: You may NOT.

    Oh, for goodness sakes...anyway, the armourment is 11mm titanium, and its 6WD is driven off Lynch motors. It has three set-ups, of which the scoop will be on this time. Its shape is inspired by Storm II but it will tend to have limited control at times. Will the Cyclone lack the Force to blow away the competition a 3rd time around?

    C&B1: Did not compete.
    C&B2: Sent out NSBFR-X in a judges decision, and shredded 15th seed Terrorhurtz with the disc set-up, finally overcoming Baldur Gamma in the Heat Final. The up and coming champ Sheer Heart Attack proved too much in Round 4, however.

    It keeps going, and going, and going, and, er...going.

    Melissa: Mr. Jackson, your machine can lift, it can push, and...what else does it do?
    Andy: Continue to exist. Its meant to last entire battles.
    Melissa: And your game plan?
    Andy: Team with Warhead and try and lift over Cyclone Force. Its rubbish when inverted.
    Melissa: Its teammate can right it, you realize.
    Andy: Ill just attack Pure Evil after that, then!
    Melissa: Ha ha, good luck!

    Going, and going, and...oops! Sorry! Ah, it has MagMotor power, so it can provide some decent power to the unknown amount of wheels. Its got a 4mm thick Hardox monocoque, so it should outlast some spinners, but it cant really damage opponents, and its quite compact, meaning it can get thrown around easily. Ruptures hopes might get ruptured themselves.

    The Razer teams other beast defiles the Battlegrounds!

    Melissa: What. A. Machine.
    Dan: Thats Warhead.
    Ian: Indeed it is, and were hoping to smash up a fair amount of machinery out there.
    Melissa: The 7th seeds are coming straight for you, how do you feel about that?
    Ian: Warheads faced rammers before and beaten them, this shouldnt be too much trouble.
    Melissa: Going to go all the way?
    Ian: You bet.
    Melissa: Right, get out there and show what you can do!
    Dan: My pleasure!

    A very powerful beast with a vicious spinning dome weapon that has torn out wheels, and goodness knows what else besides; what less would you expect from Razers brother? Self-righting wings on the sides help to stabilize as well, but the self-righting does tend to take a while, and it can go out of control. Will Warhead bomb out?

    From Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, Pure Evil: Back 2 Basics!
    Its a flipper, of course! An evil flipper! Ooooo!

    Melissa: Are you quite sure its...evil?
    Daniel: I am quite sure. It can flip 2500kg! If that aint evil enough for you...
    Melissa: Point taken.
    Daniel: It also has tracks, Hardox armour, and LEM130s.
    Melissa: You are scaring me.
    Daniel: I think now I have made my point.
    Melissa: Ill stand over here right now...

    Evil? Or feeble? The specs say loads of flipping power, a tough Hardox exterior with more protection around the flipper, Lynch motor power, and some nice titanium/vanadium tracks. The specs also say that it has a 7mm ground clearance around the sides and rear. Could Pure Evil get sent back to the deepest pits of Hades?

    Roboteers, stand by...

    Teams...Daniel Stickler and Christopher Mason in Booth 1...and Andrew Jackson, and Dan Boulton with Team Razer in Booth 2. For house robots, we have 112kg of Dead Metal, sawblade, pincers and all, and alongside him is 185kg of Triple Whamlet.

    ACTIVATE!

    And from the get-go, the 7th seed is the first to make a break for it - it being Warhead! The realie tries to avoid the charge, but the rammer is just too fast and barrels into the bowl, stopping it cold with the scoop! Rupture is after Cyclone Force 3, but Pure Evil: Back 2 Basics says noooooooooo to that, and slips under it from the side! This results in a mighty flip being given to the lifter, sending it high into the air, and it comes straight down onto its own lifter! Has that buckled the weaponry at all? Lets see...Pure Evil has Rupture as its target, and Andy much prefers Cyclone Force to attack...but Daniel ensures that Andy isnt getting his way! Pure Evil slides under the lifter of Rupture easily, and just as easily lets him fly again! Rupture flies across the arean and lands in Triple Whamlets CPZ! Not good! Pure Evil turns back to find Warhead getting pushed across the arena by Cyclone Force 3; obviously Chris is quite having his way at the moment, and shunts Warhead along the wall into the pit release button, which engages instantly! Pure Evil suddenly feels very inactive and blasts off towards Triple Whamlets CPZ, eager for some action! The said Triple Whamlet is giving Rupture one good hell of a battering, the 4mm Hardox monocoque steadily getting dented, and dented, and dented worse! Pure Evil at that point in time barges into the CPZ and shoving aside Whamlet tosses Rupture, but only by the tip, so sending Rupture onto his back! Before it can self-right, however, it is attacked once more by the axes of Whamlet! And its partner isnt doing that well of a job either! Warhead gets slammed against the wall once more by Cyclone Force, the LEM-driven machine exerting its proven power into pummelling the Team Razer robot into oblivion!

    Pure Evil however just cant stand being idle, and races over to attack Warhead itself, as Rupture simply cannot get out of his major predicament! The wedge slams into Warheads rear, and a mighty flip sees Warhead leave the floor and take to the air...for a few seconds, that is! Warhead crashes down noisily onto the arena floor, one of the arms seemingly bent on that landing, as it tries to regain its senses; however, Cyclone Force and Pure Evil wont let him! They slam into Warhead as one and take him into Dead Metals CPZ. The silver scorpion is forced straight back into the CPZ as the two powerful machines thrust Warhead into Dead Metals midst with utmost tenacity! Another flip from Pure Evil sends Warhead straight on top of Dead Metal, as the 7th seed crashes into one of Dead Metals own claws and pins the house robot there! Triple Whamlet has had enough of pummelling Rupture into metal fillings, and goes off to aid his comrade-in-arms, and slams into the rear of Cyclone Force, sliding under but not bringing down the axes yet, possibly because he is afraid he will hit Dead Metal! And that proves to be his undoing: Pure Evil turns to the 185kg housie and slides under him, takes him to the wall, and lets out another mighty flip; Whamlet just goes over the wall, and the audience are loving it! The Watcher certainly is not; he bumps into the rear of Pure Evil, reminding the Stickler creation that youre not supposed to attack house robots unless they attack you. Daniel shakes his fist at the ref in the control booth as Pure Evil is given a yellow card: the audience boos the ref; quite clearly that was undeserved, a slight warning surely should have sufficed!

    But Rupture it seems just wont bow out; the lifter is indeed working as it slows props the battered machine up off the floor and onto its wheels; however this does not pass the eye of Daniel Stickler, and Pure Evil is right in its face. Rupture seems much too sluggish now to avoid the charge, and again the flipper beats the lifter (in terms of ground clearance at the least), and gliding into the corner sends Rupture skyward, and then ground bound as it crashes onto the arena camera tracks! Pure Evil twirls around, almost forgetting himself, as Cyclone Force is shoved in the rear by The Watcher, he cant pin both robots there. Cyclone Force backs off, but once again its the flipper of Pure Evil that shines again as it slams into both Dead Metal and Warhead and sends them over! Warhead tries futilely to self-right; its pinned right up against Dead Metal again, whos on his back as well, but Cyclone Force begins to push Dead Metal away, and Warhead finally is able to right itself...just in time to be scooped up onto the wedge of Pure Evil, and one forceful flip sends Warhead straight up over the fence to experience a fate akin to that of Rupture! And Dead Metal now is going to feel some humiliation as Cyclone Force nears the pit...and one shove is enough, as the silver scorpion plummets to its death. The Watcher again holds up the yellow card, desperate for order, but thats what happens!

    CEASE!

    Rupture gets ripped right out of existence! All Warheads blown off is its own steam!

    Liar 2 (23) vs. Inferno vs. You€™re Dreaming vs. Panic Attack

    From Enschede in Holland, seeded number 23, Liar 2!
    Liar, liar, parts on fire? We€™ll see after Round 1!

    Melissa: It€™s Liar! Do its stats lie?
    Martijn: Liar 2, dear. That€™s the one thing that is true. It can flip either way up, and has plenty of power. Also we got some lovely spikes and tough armour.
    Melissa: And what are you hoping to do out there?
    Martijn: Flip, what less?
    Melissa: Have some flippin€™ fun out there!
    Martijn: Thank you.

    It€™s Hardox armoured all over, in different thicknesses, and its flipper can throw over a ton. It€™s powerful with LEM130 drive, which can help the side spikes thwack into opponents€™ armour; it can easily be flipped itself, though, with a ground clearance of 10mm at the rear, and a rather compact design. Is the 23rd seed a big fat liar about its goal of winning the tournament?

    C&B2: Teamed up with Voltronic on 3rd seed Orka MK4, sending it out, and then took out Novastorm II in Round 2€¦only to fall to The Disc 5 in the Heat Final.

    Burn, baby, burn! The question is, which bot will burn?

    Melissa: The heat is on for Inferno, so what€™s the game plan?
    Paul: Attack Liar 2, because its axles are weak.
    Melissa: Are you sure about this? Axles look quite tougher than the armour itself.
    Paul: Meh, attack anyway.
    Melissa: I see, well good luck to you, you€™ll need it.
    Paul: €¦all right.

    This beast has a spinning disc on top, weighing in at 35kg, and powered by 2 S28-400 MagMotors. Captain Paul Cuomo claims a kJ output of 140€¦I doubt it. Weldox side armour and titanium armour on the top and bottom, and some shockproofing as well compose the protection€¦but there€™s no srimech, and it€™s quite slow. Has Inferno€™s hope burnt out?

    Huh€¦what? No, I wasn€™t dreaming! Seriously! Get that spinner away from me!

    Melissa: You sure have a storeroom full of good names.
    Martyn: I like to think I do.
    Melissa: So it has a spinning bar on top?
    Martyn: Over 20kg of it, and it should rip open panels quite nicely.
    Melissa: Don€™t daydream out there!
    Martyn: Now that€™s just insulting!
    Melissa: Hahahahaha.

    It€™s shaped like Gyrobot€¦and that mean spinning bar can dish out 110kJ, or so I hear from Martyn Forsyth. It€™s powered by 2 LEM170 Lynch motors, so it€™s definitely powerful, but could it be too powerful for its own good? It€™s not good in the pushing department, and it has a 5mm titanium monocoque for armour€¦was this bot a dream gone to waste?

    From Cardiff in Wales, Panic Attack!
    The Robot Wars Series 2 champs are back at it again!

    Melissa: Shane! Teamed up with Kam Davies€™ team, have you?
    Shane: Indeed I have, Panic Attack is a good machine and we€™re going to kick some robutt.
    Kim: It might be getting on a bit, but Panic is still raring to go, m€™lady.
    Melissa: And what is your game plan?
    Shane: Lift stuff over. Pit too, I guess.
    Kim: Shane€™s operating the weapons.
    Shane: I wanted to drive. :sad:
    Melissa: Aww€¦well good luck out there!

    Good ol€™ Panic Attack, the Series 4 incarnation is here. The Boron Carbide lifting forks are back, as are the skirts and srimech. However, it must be dwarfed over by the other competitors, being around 80kg in weight€¦could Panic Attack be sent running to the hills?

    Let€™s have a look at the teams, Paul Cuomo and Shane Swan with Kim Davies in the first booth€¦and in Booth 2, there€™s Marti and Marty€¦I mean Martijn Benschop and Martyn Forsyth. and of course, we have house robots, in the form of Renegade and Matilda!

    ACTIVATE!

    And off to quick start is Liar 2, as Inferno heads for Panic Attack, and You€™re Dreaming€¦just sits there. Liar 2 heads after Inferno, however, who crashes into Panic Attack€™s forks, but glances off them and away, as Panic Attack turns towards them. You€™re Dreaming decides to head towards Liar 2, but the 23rd seed isn€™t interested in the Forsyth machine at the moment, and has its intent on one robot, and that is Inferno, but Paul€™s attention has been caught by Martijn, and Inferno charges towards Liar 2€™s wheel. Liar 2 however outmanoeuvres the disced robot and slides under it, the blades merely glancing off the wedge€¦FLIP! Over goes Inferno, and€¦with no srimech, that€™s all she wrote! Paul shakes his head at this rather humiliating ending. You€™re Dreaming however takes advantage of this opportunity and smashes into Liar 2€™s wheel!

    CRASH!!!

    OUCH! That must have hurt, as the 23rd seed gets flung away, spinning like a tornado, away into the corner, but Panic Attack has taken the chance and charged into You€™re Dreaming, and lifts it up into the air€¦and sits it on its back! And something starts to spin€¦You€™re Dreaming€™s body! The spinning bar and motors are too heavy, and the body is just spinning aimlessly, unable to get righted! Liar 2€¦is okay, and Inferno is doing the same as Martyn€™s robot, simply spinning in place on its back. The Watcher, after a moment€™s pause of possible disbelief at how quickly the two spinners got taken out, starts the countdown.

    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!

    And Liar 2 opens the pit by smashing the button with its thwackers, and Panic Attack pushes You€™re Dreaming towards the pit, and it instantly falls in. Inferno however isn€™t as lucky as Renegade gets its mitts on the cylinder and lets the axe fly, as Matlida also comes in! The claws grab on, and another axe blow thuds against the titanium of Inferno, just as Matilda makes her appearance known with an insertion of her flywheel into the ringed side of Inferno!

    CRASH!!!

    And that€™s righted Inferno, who moves away, much of the Weldox torn away as it tries to escape from the house robots, but instead runs into Liar 2€™s flipper, and gets tossed right back over! That€™s the seal of doom for Paul€™s spinner, as Renegade grabs it and shoves it straight into the Disc of Death, lifting Inferno up so the Disc of Death can actually hit it!

    CRASH!!!

    And that€™s scattered much of the Weldox, as Inferno looks more and more mangled, but Liar 2 is becoming impatient, and with a shove to the rear, pushes Renegade towards the pit, and tosses it before Renegade can make a retaliation, and Renegade goes into the pit with Inferno in its grasp! Matilda, angered, backs towards the 23rd seed, but Panic attack comes in from the side and lifts up Matilda, tipping her onto her side!

    CEASE!

    Inferno€™s hopes end in dying embers, as You€™re Dreaming can only dream about what could have been!
