Thread: Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

  1. #221
When attacking Kody - aim for his smug face, lol.

Anyway more seriously, attack SGE because Id rather get him out the way in the melee where I have an ally. Just keep the weapon towards him at all times.

  2. #222
I prefer overly-optimistic rather than smug, because I dont want people to think Im nervous...oops.

Previous tactics still apply, except attack Darkestar more often than Isolation.

    Nice cookie dance of joy

Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where Heat G is about to get underway!
Tonight will see the return of the number #13 seed Super Gore Evo, but we haven€™t seen a seed go through since Heat B when Supreme Glory Omega triumphed over Knyfe. Let€™s take a look at this interesting record:
    Heat A= Wedge Devolution (1)
Heat B= Supreme Glory Omega (3)
Heat C= Cyclone Force 3 (Storm II (5) defeated by Turbo Shredder in round 2, Turbo Shredder defeated by Cyclone Force 3 in heat final)
Heat D= Orka MK.4 (Defeated Whirligig 4.5 (7) in round 2, then Macduff the 3rd in heat final)
Heat E= Back to Rock III (Defeated WORCK-ER (9) in round 2, then SOR X in heat final)
Heat F= Mantis (Defeated All Scoop and No Stab make Steve a Dull Boy (11) in round 2, then Tengu VII in heat final)
    Today€™s line-up is:
Super Gore Evo (13) v Isolation v Darkestar
    Metal Sonic Spin Dash v Wedga€™s Revenge v Tri-Tainium
Can Super Gore Evo break the mould by at least reaching the heat final (or enduring a humiliating round 1 exit), or will it be one last hurrah for this version of Super Gore to make way for Revo when the time comes?

    Eliminator 1

Created and entered by Kody Kunz, seed number #13, Super Gore Evo!
This invertible tracked robot has plenty of power in both the drive and the claws, as it proved last time around. It may be powerful, but the tracks are exposed from above (and with Metal Sonic Spin Dash in this heat, below), and this could be its downfall.

In RS!!1: Dodged Axe to Fall€™s deadly axe in the first round, keeping the exposed tracks safe for a while, but in round 2 things seemed grim when the draw saw the bot come up against Killotine: EVO. However, Once again Mr. Kunz proved to be expertly skilled at dodging axes and grappled it€™s powerful opponent with what you could call elegance, but here on RS!! We call it violence... Things seemed to be looking up in the heat final, but Storm II was able to use the lifter and stay out of SGE€™s claws to turn the bookies on their heads and move onto the quarter-finals.

Created and entered by Joey McConnell, Isolation!
This reverse wedge has a nice meaty vertical flywheel on the front and a flipper on the back that doubles as a self-righting mechanism! As if that wasn€™t enough, Joey has also given the robot a name to strike fear into even the deadliest of opponents, such as Spring-BOK! and Toby the T-Ram Engine. However, it is the only wheeled robot in a bout with two other tracked bots, both of which have chosen to exploit the 110kg maximum weight limit for tracks rule, and this has left Isolation with a 10kg disadvantage.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Alex Holt, Darkestar!
This is truly an exceptionally interesting robot, shying away from the usual circular flywheels and opting for a triangular blade, something that may be referred to as a flytriangle... Like Super Gore, it is an invertible tracked robot, but it is only armoured on the sides, rear and inside the centre to protect the weaponry, and that could me a major failure.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

    Roboteers, standby!

    Booth 1: Kody Kunz

    SMASH!!

    Commercial Break!
Hang on a minute, this Robot SMASH!! , not Vapourbot Vengeance!
Darkestar looks deadly, immediately beginning to spin up that scary looking blade while Super Gore Evo, the seed looks menacing with the claws glinting in the light. Isolation also look menacing, spinning up to speed in a matter of seconds and just waiting for the chance to strike. It€™s Darkestar who attacks first, manoeuvring around to stand by Isolation, and the two of them move in against the seed! Kody grits his teeth and heads in towards Darkestar, faking an attempt at ramming the front and trying to get around the side, but Alex turns sharply and catches Kody with his blade, flicking the front of Super Gore Evo up into the air! Isolation then hurries in underneath and the flywheel sends Super Gore Evo toppling over again, this time bouncing down on top of its claws with a clang before it lands back on its tracks. However, the 4mm hardox shell seems to be protecting it quite nicely for now and Kody sees his chance to attack Darkestar, grabbing Alex from behind and holding on with those clamping claws hard on the side armour! Alex worries and tries to pull away, but it wheelies slightly as Kody reverses, dragging Darkestar towards the pit release button, but Isolation gets in the way and hits Kody with the flywheel from behind, this succeeding in tearing off the rear armour panel! The attack loosens Super Gore€™s grip on Darkestar, who then comes around on a side onslaught of its own, once again sending Kody tumbling up and over onto his back! But Super Gore Evo is having none of it and rams into Isolation, who was just spinning up the disc again. But now that weapon as been stopped in its tracks and Kody uses those claws to grab hold of Isolation, and now Kody nudges the pit release button, this time making it there! Darkestar comes in to try and repay Isolation for freeing it earlier, but the attack from that triangular blade merely scratches the paint this time and Super Gore continues on, pushing Isolation towards the pit! But Joey struggles back, and the two bots are caught in a deadly embrace! But the tracks of Super Gore give more traction and Kody gains the leverage he needs to push Isolation right to the pit, but before he goes quite in... CLANG! Darkestar decides to interfere, and this time he hits the left claw of SGE and loosens Super Gore€™s grip, allowing Isolation the moment it needs just to pull away, before turning around and coming back on in a ram with the wedge side, getting in underneath the front of Super Gore and flipping it over to expose that damaged rear end! Darkestar moves in with the blade, but isn€™t yet back up to full speed and so it merely sparks off something inside, and Super Gore turns again, this time determined to finish an opponent off and he slams full force into Isolation, who had turned back around to attack with the flywheel, and with a Kan Opener-style battering ram blow Isolation is sent reeling onto the edge of the pit, with one wheel on the ground and one hanging uselessly over the abyss! Kody smiles and moves in, but Darkestar stands in his way again! The bond of teaming up on seeds must be strong, but Kody merely ploughs straight into Darkestar and once again puts uses his claws to get a hold on Alex€™s side armour, now pushing Darkestar backwards into Isolation who topples into the pit, only to be followed by Darkestar!

    CEASE!

A bad start for Super Gore Evo, but the unlucky seeding number seems to a load of hogwash as Isolation is isolated in the pit of oblivion and although Darkestar joined him Joey was the first one to go and thus Alex Holt joins Kody in the next round!

Me: I€™m here in the pits now with Joey, whose robot Isolation has just bowed out of the competition. It looked promising, will we see it again?
Joey: Possibly, as it was a pretty bad draw for Isolation. Super Gore isn€™t the type of robot it likes to fight, and the team-up with Darkestar turned out to be pretty ill-fated.
Me: Well, you still have plenty of other robots in the competition, right?
Joey: Yeah, a good few to go, including my number #2 seed.
Me: Well, surely you€™ll be hoping to win a heat before then?
Joey: Obviously I€™d like to win every heat before then.
Me: Even the ones you€™re not in?
    Joey: Duh.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s head back to the coliseum for the second eliminator of tonights heat.

    Eliminator 2

Created and entered by Steven McGregor, Metal Sonic Spin Dash!
A box shape with a vertical pussycat-style blade and mute-style barbs to trap opponents on top, this robot also sports a self-righting mechanism on top that can be used to effectively get back onto its wheels.

In RS!!1: Looked promising, but a first round encounter with Seung Mina IV saw it spend most of the fight getting thrown around the arena. Steven did come back and push Kody around, but it was too late and the judges gave it to the Calibur female on a close decision.

Created and entered by Andrew Jackson, Wedga€™s Revenge!
Unlike your average wedge flipper this robot has a cut-off wedge, and a hard scoop to deflect spinners where you would find the wedge on a normal wedge flipper, such as our reigning champion Wedge Devolution.

    In RS!! 1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Paul Cuomo, Tri-Tainium!
Unlike Isolation and Darkestar, whom we saw in the first of tonight€™s eliminators this robot has more than one vertical spinning device. No, it doesn€™t have two. It has THREE. Each one is on the front scoop, but as Tri-Tainium is invertible and doesn€™t have any way of turning itself back over when flipped the weaponry could quickly be rendered immobile.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

    SMASH!!

Tri-Tainium€™s weaponry seems a great oddity to many robots, perhaps a strange idea. Each disc delivers 45Kj of energy, but when Paul built the robot he thought that the robot would deliver a 135Kj hit with an three-disc hit, but as people in the How Can I Improve thread informed him, it would deliver a 45Kj hit in three different places, not a single powerful hit. Whether this will make or break Paul€™s chances here today is yet to be seen, but it seems not as Tri-Tainium quickly has all three of those discs spinning upwards at top speed and knocks into the side of Metal Sonic Spin Dash, crippling the side skirt rather badly and flipping Steven€™s saw blade bot up and over onto its back in one easy move. But MSSD has that self-righting mechanism built into the back of the robot and quickly rights itself before coming back on the attack and driving in underneath the 10mm side ground clearance of Tri-Tainium, and sparks fly out from underneath as that vertical saw blade hits the base armour! However, no real damage seems to have been done and MSSD pushes Tri-Tainium into Wedga€™s Revenge, who we now see for the first time in this fight as it gets that scary looking flipper in underneath Tri-Tainium and flips Paul up and over onto the barbs on top of MSSD! That€™s Paul stuck in a very inconvenient position, and MSSD uses the srimech to flip him back onto Wedga, who flips Tri-Tainium again, this time onto the front of MSSD! And finally the saw comes into play, as Steven pushes Paul up against the wall and as the front left tyre struggles to turn over we see that MSSD has completely shredded it! Wedga comes in to attack Tri-Tainium, but in doing so frees it. Paul limps away and spins up again, but Wedga catches up on the robot now with badly impaired driving and slips the flipper in under the rear and with a nice flip Tri-Tainium finds itself on its head, with all three discs chewing lumps out of the arena floor! Paul lands upside down and Wedga attacks again, this time getting underneath the front and pushing Tri-Tainium to the side of the arena before Andy hits the flipper button again and stacks Paul up on the barrier, from where he is helpless! Steven doesn€™t think he needs to help, so just looks on happily from the control booth as Andy moves in for the kill, sliding the flipper in underneath Tri-Tainium for one final time, seconds before Tri-Tainium flies up and over the barrier before coming crashing down onto the camera tracks with a bump.

    CEASE!

Tri-Tainium needs more than three discs as Metal Sonic Spin Dash and Wedga€™s Revenge make their way to the next round!

Me: I€™m here in the pits now with Paul.
Paul: I thought it would go better than that.
Me: No kidding, three discs is plenty!
Paul: But not enough to take on MSSD and Wedga€™s Revenge, it seems.
Me: Yes, but you did get one good hit on MSSD, right before it shredded your tyre to pieces.
    Paul: True...
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now we€™ll be back after this short commercial break, but don€™t go anywhere yet folks, because here€™s the round 2 draw!
    Heat G Semi-Finals:
    Super Gore Evo (13) v Wedga€™s Revenge
Metal Sonic Spin Dash v Darkestar
Tactics, predictions and a hurrah because I€™ve found a professor, who really ISN€™T Male Kram, all ready for Eggheads corner before the heat final!

Eggheads? Isnt that a quiz show?

And I kind of thought it would end up that way...to be honest, Isolation was a bit useless overall, so it is being retired on grounds of sheer not good enoughness. (that, and I may nick the name for my feather :P)

    PREDICTIONS:
Super Gore is going to grapple and pit Wedga
Darkestar is going to forcefully remove Spin Dashs blade, then forcefully remove its skirts, and then forcefully remove it from the competition.

Good luck people, and w00ty fights as ever Liam.

    Eggheads is a TV show

    Not eggheads corner

  8. #228
Wedga is good...but I believe my invertibility can put up with that flipper. That...and SGEs rounded sides can withstand stacking. Nonetheless I shall avoid that weapon and go for the sides or rear...or the front if theres no way to avoid it. Grapple on as long as I can and drag to the pit ASAP!

    What claws are you using?

go for the sides or rear...or the front

looks like a solid tactic to me Kody!
