w00t, un-hypod tournaments for the win!
And so we come to the Heat I final of Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged, where Achilles and Mega Monsoon will be battling for a place in the series semi-finals. Let€™s look back and see how they got this far:
They were in the same round 1 melee and teamed up on Death Threat 0.2, condemning the dangerous horizontal grabber to then pit.
In the first heat semi-final Achilles sent the number #16 seed Shadow Zone Returns tumbling out of the arena and onto the camera tracks to become the 7th seed to crash out of the heats.
In the second heat semi-final Mega Monsoon went on a whirlwind ride with Symmetry, taking some damage but eventually pitting the double spinner.
I€™m here in the pits now with both teams.
Me: So Alex, your second heat final.
Alex: And hopefully the first heats win.
Me: What setup is Achilles using for this match?
Alex: For the first time in this tournament I€™m switching to the hydraulics.
Me: Why€™s that?
Alex: Because Monsoon is a fast and powerful rammer, but with the wheels in the air it won€™t be going anywhere.
Me: Good luck.
Alex: Thanks.
Me: So Daniel, is Monsoon ready?
Daniel: Ready as it€™s ever been. It lost to Doorstops in round 1 last season, but this time there€™s been an improvement so even if I go out here it€™ll be OK.
Me: Will your spike or your pushing power be the more useful weapon here?
Daniel: As always it is the pushing capability, because pneumatic spikes tend to push the opponent away unless the opponent is very poorly armoured, and Achilles (sadly) is tough enough to withstand this.
Me: Good luck.
Daniel: Thanks.
Up in Eggheads corner Professor Von Frankenstein and Mr. Kody-in-a-forklift-truck are discussing the upcoming match.
Prof.: Mega Monsoon will certainly walk away with a victory here, as it is very powerful and should pit Achilles easily.
Mr.: I disagree. Monsoon is far too uncontrolled, and with Achilles using the hydraulics it will be lifted and pitted.
Prof.: But Achilles€™ E-Teks simply cannot compete with Monsoon€™s mags.
Mr.: I don€™t see Monsoon€™s spike doing any damage, so who€™s to say Achilles can win on a JD?
Prof.: Let€™s get the teams into the booths so we can settle this argument once and for all!
Me: Shut up Professor, that€™s MY job. Watch it or you€™ll go the same way as Male Kram.
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s get down to the coliseum for the heat final!
Heat Final

SMASH!!
Monsoon is immediately off the mark like a bullet out of a gun, while Achilles is slightly slower albeit more controlled. Daniel swings Monsoon around in a sideways arc to get to the side of Achilles and rams Alex towards the wall, but Achilles manages to turn away and bring the lifter under the side of Monsoon€™s ground clearance, lifting Daniel€™s famous machine into the air! It doesn€™t seem to have a very good hold, but all the same Mega Monsoon is up in the air and can€™t attack. The wheels spin, but in the sky wheels are useless and Alex makes his way across the arena to the pit release button, proudly parading Mega Monsoon in the air as if he just won it, but the impact with the release siren causes Achilles to drop Mega Monsoon onto the floor! Daniel races off across the arena and then turns to meet Achilles, who is approaching menacingly. Alex attacks, but hits the lifter button too early and Monsoon slips in underneath, crashing across the arena and slamming Alex€™s famous major-winner into the corner, throwing it over! However Daniel has forgotten that I have some lovely killsaws in the corner, and now Mega Monsoon has been caught by them and is thrown across the arena away from Achilles, who by now has self-righted and is coming back on the attack, once again getting underneath the side ground clearance and hoisting Daniel into the air before turning and heading towards the chasm which could very easily mean the end of Mega Monsoon if Alex succeeds in getting him there this time! And he does so, lowering the lifter to allow Monsoon to slide off into the pit of oblivion and out of the competition, although it is two rounds later than Daniel€™s rammer did last season.
CEASE!
Mega Monsoon is drowned; Achilles goes through to the series semi-finals!
And so 9 places on the semi-final list are filled!

Supreme Glory Omega (3)
Cyclone Force 3
