Thread: Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Itd be quite good, you could tell better when you were underneath someone to flip...wouldnt work on spinners though, youd get seasick

    Its non-invertible.

The builders database seems to be down  at least I know Shrederator runs off of 2 D-Pack motors which are very capable, and its got pretty tough armour to boot, I think moderately thick steel, dunno.

Hello and welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where Heat B is about to get underway! If you missed last week€™s exciting episode, this is what happened:
The number #1 seed Wedge Devolution was teamed up on by Sheer Heart Attack 2 and The Curse, but the classic wedge flipper proved too strong and threw The Curse into the pit.
Bodyhammer€™s lack of a srimech meant it couldn€™t get going again when flipped by Y4 and it was then pitted by Splinter.
In round 2 Splinter€™s own lack of a proper srimech meant it couldn€™t last out the match against the number #1 seed Wedge Devolution.
Y4 looked promising, but Sheer Heart Attack 2 ruptured the co2 supply and flipped Christopher Mason onto his back to claim its place in the heat final.
In that final battle of the heat Sheer Heart Attack 2 did plenty of damage to Wedge Devolution, but Steven McGregor pulled back and flipped Sheer Heart Attack onto the camera track!

Tonight promises to be just as phenomenal, as the number #3 seed Supreme Glory Omega returns to the coliseum with that powerful axe ready to decimate even more than before. Let€™s take a look at the eliminator draw.
    Chaos 2 v Axe-o-Lotl v Knyfe
Supreme Glory Omega (3) v Shrederator v GBOD

    Eliminator 1

Built by George Francis, entered by Danny Bailey, Chaos 2!
A two time RW champion, this robot was the first ever to throw an opponent clean out of the arena! There€™s nothing more impressive than that, but this is an aging design and it has a very limited co2 supply on board.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Christopher Mason, Axe-o-Lotl!
Half axe, half rammer, Axe-o-Lotl is a force to be reckoned with, packing equal drive power to Storm II and equal axe power to Dominator II. It may be powerful, but can it€™s axe compete with the likes of number #3 seed Supreme Glory Omega?

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Paul Cuomo, Knyfe!
A rammer with plenty of interchangeable weapons designed to kill spinners, Knyfe is a force to be reckoned with. It packs 50HP with those 2 LEM-200s running at 48v in the drive, but no active weapon could make it slightly defenceless.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

    Roboteers, standby!

    Booth 1: Danny Bailey
Booth 2: Christopher Mason, Paul Cuomo

    SMASH!!

It seems just moments ago that Sheer Heart Attack 2 was ejected from the coliseum, but now three new machines are in there all baying for blood, and it€™s Knyfe that seems the most aggressive right from the off, using the ramming spikes for this fight and targeting Chaos 2 for a rush! Danny panics and tries to get out of the way, but Knyfe slams into Chaos 2 and Danny spins around! But Knyfe has left its rear end exposed and Chaos 2 gets underneath and throws Knyfe up and over, but now Knyfe is facing Chaos 2, whose flipper is open! Knyfe rams in and slams Chaos 2 into the arena wall hard, and surely that will have caused some serious damage to the internal workings of Chaos 2? Not this time it seems, as when Knyfe reverses away Chaos 2 follows, only to be rammed from the side by Axe-o-Lotl, who brings the axe down and pierces the left hand side of Chaos 2 with ease! And while Axe-o-Lotl holds Chaos 2 in comes Knyfe from the other side and slams into Chaos 2 again, ramming both opponents across the arena and into the pit release button! There€™s now a great big chasm in the arena floor to worry about and Axe-o-Lotl finally yanks the axe head out of Chaos 2€™s bodywork, but Knyfe doesn€™t retreat and slams Chaos 2 across the arena and onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Chaos 2 is thrown up and over, and although Danny tries to self-right Chaos 2 hits the wall! And now Knyfe lines up another attack and the spikes are bristling for action, as it rams in from behind and slams Chaos 2 into the arena wall, piercing the rear armour and surely the gas bottle as well, as co2 is now gushing out of Chaos 2, hiding the realie from view! And now that Chaos 2 is impaled on Knyfe€™s spikes in comes Axe-o-Lotl and jams the axe into Chaos 2€™s base armour! But now we have a problem- all three bots are stuck together, and time is running out!

    CEASE!

We call time on the match and now we must go to the judges!

    Damage:
    Chaos 2- 1 x 4= 4
    Axe-o-Lotl- 8 x 4= 32
    Knyfe- 8 x 4= 32
    Aggression:
    Chaos 2- 1 x 3= 3
    Axe-o-Lotl- 5 x 3= 15
    Knyfe- 8 x 3= 24
    Control:
    Chaos 2- 0 x 2= 0
    Axe-o-Lotl- 7 x 2= 14
    Knyfe- 4 x 2= 8
    Dominance:
    Chaos 2- 0 x 1= 0
    Axe-o-Lotl- 5 x 1= 5
    Knyfe- 9 x 1= 9
    Overall:
    Chaos 2- 4 + 3 + 0 + 0 = 7pts
    Axe-o-Lotl- 32 + 15 + 14 + 5 = 66pts
    Knyfe- 32 + 24 + 8 + 9 = 73pts

Chaos 2 is eliminated with a point margin of 59pts; Axe-o-Lotl and Knyfe go through to round 2!

And now we go to the pits, where Danny is putting Chaos 2 away.
Me: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you say you fared in that battle?
    Danny: (laughs) 0!
    Me: Why?
Danny: I only got one attack in before I got impaled on Knyfe€™s spikes, and that was the end then.
Me: Will you be picking Chaos 2 as a realie next time (if there is a next time)?
Danny: It€™s doubtful, but not impossible.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now back to the coliseum for the second eliminator of tonight€™s exciting heat!

    Eliminator 2

Created and entered by Daniel Stickler, the number #3 seed, Supreme Glory Omega!
Only Nidhogg could stop this from getting to the final last year, can the number #3 seed go at least one better this time around? If it can, we know how it will; with that super powerful axe and floor vacuum device of course! Those are the pros, but the cons are the not so strong armour, which won€™t stand up to the more powerful spinners.

In RS!!1: Smashed through Dead Horse Beater€™s 4mm polypropylene base in the eliminator, then gave D.V.D a hammering in the heat semi-final. In the third and final round of the heat Daniel proved it€™s better to have stab than scoop as All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve a Dull Boy got axed from the competition, literally! In the quarter-finals Storm II bit the bullet when it met the powerful axe, the head of which is modelled on that of Excalibur from RW3. In the semi-finals however, things went downhill. SGO started well by hammering Nidhogg, but it was one lift from the forks and a prod from the crusher that put Nidhogg on top and Joey eventually took the match. In the play-off third place Supreme Glory Omega took on ISDSFA, but was flipped OOTA. But as Frank didn€™t enter this series Supreme Glory Omega was moved up to the number #3 spot in the seedings, can Supreme Glory Omega justify this change or will it get demoted in time for RS!!3?

Built by Team Logicom, entered by Samuel Park, Shrederator!
This powerful full body spinner really packs a punch, being the 2006 RFL heavyweight champion! It may be awesomely destructive, but it doesn€™t have a srimech, just relying on not getting flipped, which is a bit risky.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Leo Van Miert, GBOD!
Wondering what it stands for? Well... Here you go:
    Giant Bell of Death
It€™s another FBS, but this one has a srimech on top to resist the flippers, though it isn€™t entirely trustworthy.

    In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

    Roboteers, standby!

    SMASH!!

The coliseum emits the sound of a scary whirring as this battle commences- it€™s the sound of GBOD and Shrederator spinning up! It may be scary, but now Supreme Glory Omega comes after Shrederator and whacks Samuel a hefty blow on top, halting the shell! And SGO doesn€™t let Shrederator spin up again, instead it pushes the FBS into the arena wall and hits it with the axe again, but so far Shrederator is standing up to the axe blows. SGO now clamps Shrederator with the axe and pushes Samuel towards the corner, but GBOD comes in from behind and slams into SGO!
    CRASH!
The rear panel is torn clean off, but SGO keeps holding onto Shrederator and pushes Samuel onto the Killsaws! Shrederator is bounced up into the air, but lands on its wheels and quickly runs away, but then GBOD comes in on SGO again, this time tearing something out of the internal workings from behind! And as the camera zooms in we see that it€™s the vacuum device! But GBOD hasn€™t had a clean escape, as SGO can hit opponents from the front and rear and now that axe slams down onto GBOD again, and now Daniel has a clamp on Leo and pushes him across the arena and into the pit release button! But this has given time for Shrederator to spin up and now Samuel comes in from the side and leaves a deep gash in the side of Supreme Glory, and surely Daniel won€™t be lasting much longer? But he€™s still going now, as the number #3 seed unclamps GBOD and chases Shrederator again, slamming the axe onto the edge so that Shrederator leaps into the air a little, but stays on its wheels only for SGO to get underneath, clamp it with the axe and this time ram it into the corner, where the Killsaws have more success and flip Shrederator onto its back! And with no srimech Shrederator is out of the heat, leaving a very badly damaged SGO to limp through to round 2 with GBOD, who is at virtually full strength.

    CEASE!

Daniel has a lot of work to do before the next round, but he€™s through along with GBOD while Shrederator is shrederated.

We now go to the pits, where Shrederator is leaving the competition.
Me: It seemed to be going well for a while, Samuel.
Samuel: Yeah, SGO took a lot of damage, but in the end having no srimech is a real drawback.
Me: Already three robots have gone out due to having no srimech- Bodyhammer, Splinter- and now you.
Samuel: And all 3 of them realies! As you said to Alex back in Heat A, choosing realies with no srimech isn€™t a great idea.
Me: But it is great fun, and it makes easy writing for me!

Coming after the break, the Heat B semi-finals; don€™t go anywhere because here€™s the draw!
    Knyfe v GBOD
    Supreme Glory Omega (3) v Axe-o-Lotl

I thought it was Team Logicom, but I looked on their site and Shrederator is strangely absent.

Thanks for the links Leo, gotta say Mantis Mk2 is awesome- di you build it or buy it?

Tactics, easy, spin up and as soon as the opponent gets within 50cm push in hard. Whatever he tries to pull with his scoop will be slammed aside by the teeth pointing downwards.

Liam: Mantis MK2 we traded for a robot we built specifically for him. We are in the process of upgrading Mantis now with a new hydraulic pump and valves. This should give us more room for armouring it up without compromising its effectiveness and looks (that is very important).
