Drilll batteries Nicads

over the months i have lots of spare drill battery packs, all are 12volt aand the cells are 1200mah

just wondering if i can rearrange them in order to use in block of wood? and would the 12volt pack be enough or should i over volt the 12v motors with 18v?

I wouldnt use drill batteries, as they dont give out much current and dont last very long, as the mah rating is so low. The only way i could see that working is using several packs in parallel to get a bigger mah rating.
