12V 6A is a bit weak for a feather.
Thats 36W each side, Peak.
It further will depend on gearing, but to get a feather mobile with that lack of power, it will be at turtle speed.
ah ok, i have got some bosch 35w motors, but i didnt realise they have a 4mm square bore and i dont have the machines to custom make a drive shaft. im trying to look for a company to make me one but no luck
I asked the same question on the Technobots Forum, thinking that the RD01 drive system was ideal for a feather. I was directed to this reply:
The RD01 is not really intended for general RC applications but for autonomous type robots. As for weight class, not actually tried them out myself but I would suggest a pair of motors would be fine for Z12 to Z6 (1 to 2kg). With the RD01 wheels, you are only looking at a speed of some 2mph. I would expect the motors to be under powered for Z4 (3kg) class.
Daniel,
Put a post in the wanted section, you might well find someone on here that can machine some shafts for you.
emial sent Daniel

You can buy 4mm square key stock...but if ya wanna do it like i have...get a tatty old 6mm allen key and grind of 2 opposite points to the depth of the motor gearbox....instant drive shaft !!!
