Speed controller cooling fans

hi all

looking for some advice on cooling fans, i.e are they just computer fans or are there special kits for robots?

I wouldnt bother with fans. Had 2 in hornet 2, after 1 fight they were useless. The fan on my victor also broke after 1 fight.

But to answer your question, yes you can just use computer fans as these run on 12v

I doubt computer fans are robust enough for combat.
I run 3 X 40mm heavy duty brushless fans on the Victors in P.I.T.A and another 2 in Pillow Torque.
The easy way to stop them breaking is to shock mount the fans on rubber bushes to the Victors using 2 screws only (as in P.I.T.A) or leave the fans on the Victors and shock mount the whole thing (as in Pillow torque) Both soloutions seem to work as since mounting them that way I havnt lost a single fan.

PC fans are fine, weve run them in Whirlpool over the last year with no problems at all.
