Wiring on electronize controllers

hi all

at colchester basically my electronize caught fire, i think it might be becuase one of the wires got to hot melted and then shorted on my power ditributor, for one i need to know if this could have done it?

and also i was think to prevent i could change the wire for the speedo to thicker stuuf provided by clive (thanks), would this stop it happening again?

A wire that isnt big enough to carry the current will get hot and melt as will a poor /loose connection in a plastic block.

Is your electronize now dead ...or was it just a fire in the wiring?

i think i may have been lucky with the fire its mainly the wire but i think one small component has gone i was talking about changing the wires on the spare speedos i have, good idea?

I would have thought that the original wire would be of the correct rating ...therefore changing it will not help.
It really seems that you should take a closer look at ALL your wiring and wiring technique... any wire that gets hot is a NO NO.

I had a look at Colchester, seemed there was some charing around the pins of the FET so it has probably damaged components on te board. Best thing is to send it back to electronize for repair, they have always been very good in the past.

but surely the thicker the wire the higher temperatures it can take and therefore helps to eliminate any issue with that?
