Thread: Battlebots: Beyond The Battlebox

  1. #51
k, for my LW , I knocked this together very fast, so feel free to notice any big flaws

    Name: Little Stingray
    Shape: See link
    Weight: 27 kg
    Drive: 4 wheels, 1 S28-150 MAG @ 24 V PER wheel
    Speed: 14 mph max
Armour: 4 mm titanium except for the wedges which is 6 mm
GC: 0 mm under wedge, 1 mm anywhere else
    Srimech: invertible
The deal: Its a Rammstein-ish bot split in the middle and linked with an electromagnet. Yes, its a clusterbot made of 2 identical part. The fun part is that I can either link them like pictured (like Rammstein) and make it run like 1 rambot or I can link them so that BOTH wedges face the ground and run them like 2 rambot!

    Right, here goes nothing...

ITEMS THAT COULD BE CONSTRUED AS TACTICS:

    Against vs. RADIOACTIVE:
I reckon I could have better maneuvrability here, and four extra kilos at least. Basically wedge under the side, and shove into the hazards (Im assuming this is the BattleBox arena, seeing as its a Battlebots tournament and all...), particuarly the hammers, and generally try and dominate it.

    LIFE vs. Spin Cycle
Uh...dont really think I can do detailed tactice here. Just flip it around, and hope something breaks.

NO OBJECTIONS vs. Supreme Glory Omega
Right, the difficult one, as SGO is really the sort of robot No Objections is weak against. Basically spin around and raise the lifter slightly so that the axe will (hopefully) be deflected before it hits thorugh the armour, and wait for it to charge head on and (again, hopefully) send it flying. One more thing, though; if I get the opportunity, when its inverted Ill go in with the lifter and try and stack it on the spikes. Tough fight though.

Flick Of The Wrist/With You vs. SEKHMET
Go into thwackbot mode from the go, try and immobilise one of them with a hit. If its FOTW, great, if not, go after FOTW with the front forks fully down, break its traction (should be easyish as I have 2WD to its 6WD, giving me in theory better maneuvrability) and slam it around.

Good luck Steve, Andy, Dan and Marti

I was thinking precisely that... Also, its not actually explained what the teeth on Mauler do, Id assume theyre attached to something that spins, but you never know, it might be a covering for some kind of evil toothbrush weapon.

Chris, ROID is a MW, and Spin Cycle is a LW. I cant fight a MW with a LW like Anti-Virus.

Dont let this discourage you, though.

Im assuming Im fighting Spin Cycle with Anti-Virus in the LWs, so...

Anti Virus 2.0 vs Spin Cycle

Ram it. The armour can hold up well. Nothing further.

    Killoteeny vs Solstice 2.0

Well, my blades are pretty long. I should be able to hit him before he gets in range with the axe. Tactics? DESTROY IT.

Shadow Zone Returns vs Wedgas Revenge

Lol, how many times am I gonna get drawn against Wedga? Basically ram him to death with the front scoop, using the rear flipper only to self-right, or to take advantage if he runs out of flips. Should get under his skirts with little difficulty, so attack anywhere.

    Revolver vs Tax Cutter

Charge straight into the disc to prevent it scratching my lovely paint job if it reaches full speed. Hack it to death, aim for the wheels mostly but generally hit anywhere I can. Oh, and do avoid leaving the axe down when his disc comes into play, as quite often axes get ripped off.

    Good luck with this, Chris.
