Thread: My first REAL tournament... ROBOBASH!!!!

  1. #41
Axe to Fall will grab something and pit it, nothing more and nothing less

  2. #42
The stats are here at last! Cheers for waiting.

    TEAM BRAVEHEART
    1. Wedge Devolution
    2. Killotine: EVO
    3. Metal Sonic Spin Dash
    4. Whirligig 4.5
    5. E Clawdius Unum
    6. Turbo Tails
    7. Split Decision
    8. Toby the T-Ram Engine

    1. Wedge Devolution
SHAPE- low wedge with sloped rear
    COLOUR- sleek and shiny silver
    WEIGHT- about 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 75cm X 30cm
    SPEED- 16mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front, 7mm for the rest of the robot. Fitted with Biohazard-style skirts on sides and rear, giving 0mm
    ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
    WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
    POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- As usual, the main weapon is a rear-hinged flipper. This is very similar to Chaos 2, except the blade at the bottom is bent ala Bigger Brother, allowing the flipper to have greater effect against bots with skirts or low centres of gravity. The flipper itself is powered by 2 X 80mm high pressure pneumatic rams, each running at 250psi. This should allow Wedge Devo to comfortably flip up to 1 tonne.
SRIMECH- The flipper can right the machine easily and the rear wedge should hopefully prevent a Chaos-style self-flip. Also, Wedge Devo is equipped with a grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent it getting stuck on its side
NOTES- flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, fast, manoeuvrable, difficult to get underneath, tough armour, good traction
WEAKNESSES- could prove a bit tricky to control, limited CO2 (like all other flippers :P)

    2. Killotine: EVO
SHAPE- compact box-wedge ala Storm 2, rounded back
    COLOUR- red
    WEIGHT- about 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 70cm X 35cm
    SPEED- 16mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front with spatula, 10mm at sides and back. Skirts at sides and back produce 0mm.
    ARMOUR- 3.25mm Hardox
    WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
    POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the large pneumatic axe, composed of 3.5mm hardox. It is very similar to that of Killerhurtz and operates with a rack-and-pinion system like Terrorhurtz. Running on 160psi, the axe runs off an 80mm X 20mm ram and stores its gas in a 2kg main bottle and 1kg buffertank. If anything goes wrong with the axe, Killotine can use its great pushing power to simply ram its opponents to death.
SRIMECH- The axe. Even if it€™s already been fired while flipped, the axe can right itself ala Killerhurtz. Also, just like the original Killotine, the machine has a rounded back and a red semi-sphere on either side of robot to stop it getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to Tom, Aaron & AJ for helping with the design
STRENGTHS- Fast, dangerous weapon, good amount of traction, difficult to get under, quick srimech, nice and fast
WEAKNESSES- so-so turning, limited gas supply

    3. Metal Sonic Spin Dash
SHAPE- low skirted box, with fixed front wedge & sloped sides
COLOUR- blue bodywork, with red-and-white striped skirting
    WEIGHT- about 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 102cm X 75cm X 20cm
    SPEED- 16mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at front with spatula, 0mm elsewhere with skirts, 12mm elsewhere without skirts
    ARMOUR- 3.75mm Hardox
    WHEELS- inside robot, 6WD
    POWER- 2 x LEM-130s. Runs at 36v and produces approximately 18hp.
WEAPONS- The main weapon here is really the excellent traction, but like all its other incarnations, Spin Dash still maintains its Pussycat-style vertical circular saw. The saw is powered by an S28-150 MagMotor and runs at 3000rpm. This time, however, the four-clawed spinner sticks halfway out of the front wedge, so that when the wedge/spatula combo bashes underneath an opponent, both the wheels and the underbelly are at the mercy of the saw.
Also features several Mute-style barbs on top to hook onto other robots and let me drag them around the ring
SRIMECH- a rear-hinged arm on top. Powered by an S28-400 MagMotor geared 250:1 for quick and easy self-righting.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, has F*** Shadow! written on the underbelly in red
STRENGTHS- excellent traction, fast, manoueverable, tough armour, well-skirted, great at getting under everyone else
    WEAKNESSES- so-so turning ability

    4. Whirligig 4.5 (sort of formerly Whirligig 4.0)
    SHAPE- flat disc
COLOUR- gold with Mauler-style scary face on top. The face shows the direction of the robot.
    WEIGHT- about 100kg (see bottom)
    DIMENSIONS- 101.6cm diameter X 12.7cm
    SPEED- 15mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0
    GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm
ARMOUR- 1.905 cm thick Grade 5 titanium
FEET- inside robot, uses 4 DrillZilla-style shuffling plates. These help prevent the bot being flung halfway across the ring on contact with another bot, ala Typhoon
POWER- 2 X S28-400s running on 36v. Uses 120 X NiCad cells at 36v, producing 12amps at 36v overall for drive and weapon power
WEAPONS- The main weapon on Whirligig is the spinning outer ring, fitted with 9 x Pussycat-style claws. The spinner is powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v. It can reach speeds of 1000rpm and produce up to 100kJ...more than enough to kill another bot at full speed.
As well as this, the power in the shuffling feet mean that Whirly can act as a pretty powerful pusher if the shell fails to work
SRIMECH- the robot is invertible and the blades prevent Whirly landing on his side
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, my first properly calculated machine
STRENGTHS- fast, manoeuvrable, very deadly weaponry, tough armour, scary face shows its direction, very good traction, cant be flung away on impact as easily as Typhoon
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability, feet may prove vulnerable to crushers and axes

    WEIGHT CHECK:
    armour = 33.72kg (inc blades)
chassis, mounts, bracing etc = about 30kg
drive and weapon motors = 12kg overall
    NiCads = about 15kg
    feet = about 10kg overall

TOTAL WEIGHT = 100.72kg. Fits right into the roller limit, with the 1% error margin rule. Probably.

    5. E Clawdius Unum (formerly Clawdius Decimus Murderous)
SHAPE- skirted wedge with small box section and rounded back
COLOUR- deep green with red shield emblazoned on the wedge, depicting a gold lion with a crown
    WEIGHT- about 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 95cm X 70cm X 40cm
    SPEED- 14mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 0mm at sides and rear thanks to skirts (arranged in a Biohazard fashion, corner-to-corner), 10mm without
    ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
    WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
    POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors
WEAPONS- The main weapon, as ever, is the hydraulic diamond-tipped crushing claw. It is powered by a Vivoil pump with an 80mm x 40mm ram, with a 2kg tank for storing the hydraulics. The claw runs at 3000psi and, aided by the diamond tip, should be able to leave plenty of holes in another robot.
The front wedge also features a Firestorm-style blade and two flat spears to aid in getting under the opposition. The wedge itself is now home to several Mute-style barbs to help ensnare other robots.
SRIMECH- A rear-hinged pneumatic arm on either side, powered by a pair of linear actuators. The rounded rear also prevents the robot getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, et tu, Brute? written on the underbelly
STRENGTHS- Quite nippy, good traction, powerful weapon, difficult to get underneath, fairly quick srimech
    WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability

    http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1801/eclawdiusunumor1.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1...iusunumor1.png

    6. Turbo Tails
SHAPE- short box with front wedge, sloped sides & rounded rear
COLOUR- yellow with the foxs face looking particularly evil on the front slope
    WEIGHT- approx 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 75cm X 25cm
    SPEED- 16mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- approx 0mm at front (titanium blade), 8mm everywhere else
ARMOUR- 3.5mm monocoque Hardox, with 2mm yellow fur over that.
    MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels
    POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors. Can produce approximately 12hp.
WEAPONS- Tails chief weapon is the horizontal spinning blade. Now mounted on top, its a bit heavier than before and has Fluffy-style heads instead of the old hammers. Its powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v and has top speeds of around 2500rpm, so its definately just as deadly as before - if not, more so!
The front wedge also hosts a forward-hinged flipping arm, powered by an 80mm x 20mm full-pressure CO2 ram. The arm operates at 750psi, giving it a fair bit of oomph, and stores its gas in a 2kg main bottle. Capable of just over 30 fires per fight.
SRIMECH- The flipper. Sloped sides and rounded rear also prevent it getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ
STRENGTHS- weapons synergy, touger armour, fast, fairly compact, greater pushing power
WEAKNESSES- not quite as manouverable as before, flammability, wholl take it seriously?

    http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7952/turbotailslongered5.pnghttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/795...slongered5.png

    7. Split Decision
SPECIAL THANKS- to Aaron for the name and to Tom for helping with the design
    FORM- 2-way Heavyweight clusterbot
LINKING SYSTEM- the duo are connected by a small chain attached to a hook on their rears when entering the ring. As soon as the battle begins, the two burst forwards and break the weak chain, allowing them to charge around by themselves

    PART 1
    NAME- FOR
SHAPE- wedge with sloped sides (ala Spawn Again)
COLOUR- gold, with blue thumbs up on the rear
    WEIGHT- around 80kg
    DIMENSIONS- 75cm X 60cm X 25cm
    SPEED- 10mph, with Tornadoey acceleration
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at front (thanks to red spatula), rises up to 15mm at the rear
    ARMOUR- 7mm Grade 5 titanium
    MOVEMENT- four inner wheels
POWER- 2 x 750-watt Bosch GPA motors, running at 36v (should give around 7hp)
WEAPONS- The brute force factor and the many Mute-style spikes on the wedge. The idea is to power under the other competitors, skewer them on the hooked prongs and slam them around the ring to my hearts content
SRIMECH- a thin blue arm on the sloped front. The arm is forward-hinged and uses a very basic low-pressure CO2 system ala Firestorm. This should produce around 30 flips per match, more than enough for all me self-righting needs
    NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- strong pushing power, great armour, fast, good manoueverability, great at slippin under others
WEAKNESSES- the weight issue, lack of proper weaponry

    PART 2
    NAME- AGAINST
SHAPE- box with hinged wedge at the front
COLOUR- gold with blue strip running down the wedge (top and bottom) and blue thumbs down on the rear
    WEIGHT- approx 20kg
    DIMENSIONS- 50cm X 35cm X 15cm
    SPEED- 14mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at front (thanks to Firestorm-style titanium strip), 25mm for the rest
    ARMOUR- 4mm Grade 5 titanium
    MOVEMENT- four inner wheels
POWER- 2 x AstroFlights, running at 24v. Pretty powerful for a lightweight.
WEAPONS- The brute force factor and the many Mute-style spikes on the top and bottom (10mm high each so they allow smooth movement when driving). The idea is to power under the other competitors, skewer them on the hooked prongs and slam them around the ring to my hearts content.
    SRIMECH- invertible
    NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- strong pushing power, good armour, fast, good manoueverability, great at slippin under others
WEAKNESSES- the weight issue, lack of proper weaponry

    http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/4935/splitdecisionhp7.pnghttp://img81.imageshack.us/img81/493...ecisionhp7.png

    8. Toby the T-Ram Engine
SHAPE- box with tall Biohazard-style skirts on all 4 sides
COLOUR- the robot looks the spitting image of Toby from good old Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends
    WEIGHT- about 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 105cm X 65cm X 60cm
    SPEED- about 15mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm all round, provided by his cowcatchers and side-plates (aka high Biohazard-style skirts) all around the machine
    ARMOUR- 15mm Lexan
    WHEELS- inside robot, 6-wheel drive
    POWER- 2 X LEM-130s
WEAPONS- Toby is a rambot, and as such doesn€™t have any active weapons. The main way Toby attacks is to plough under the opposition with the front skirts into the buffers and shove it into the arena wall, the House Robots or to the Pit
SRIMECH- Toby can get back onto his wheels thanks to 2 rollcages going over the top of the machine attached at the top by a metal bar (similar to SSD) Also, there€™s 2 more rollcages on the back to prevent it getting beached there
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, equipped with a little bell on top
STRENGTHS- nice high traction, very difficult to get underneath, tough armour, full body rammer, a treat to look at
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability, no active weaponry

Hope thatll suffice, Samuel, and sorry for the hold-up!

Time for tactics and predictions. This looks like a good line-up.

    Heat A

Wedginator VS Dante VS Axe To Fall - I reckon Dante could possibly go out here
DVD VS 147 VS Leprosy Infection - DVD out I think

Heat Winner: Probably Wedginator 6.0, although I€™ll go for Leprosy Infection as a dark horse.

    Heat B

Wedgas Revenge VS Supreme Glory Gamma VS Death Threat - A team-up with Dan sounds good here. I should be able to push Death Threat around all day, while those horizontal claws will be nice to get under and use to flip it about.
(Steve Entry) VS (Another Entry) VS Aftershock - Obviously no predictions yet but I€™m guessing Aftershock will probably go through anyway.

Heat Winner: Difficult to say yet, but at this stage it€™s looking like Supreme Glory Gamma.

    Heat C

Psyclonised VS Sithis VS Obliteration - Three ring spinners? I don€™t think I€™ve heard of that before. Either way, this should be fun seeing us bounce all over the place. As I have superior power in my weapon set-up and better armouring, I think I should be okay, so just hit whatever it nearest. Obliteration is more of a target as it has slightly weaker armour.
The 6isc VS Another Night at the Bar VS ArchAngel of The Abyss - Ouch. The 6isc and Another Night at the Bar are good new designs, and that is the major reason I think AAOTA will be going out. It€™s getting on a bit now.

Heat Winner: Talk about a heat of doom. 6 very destructive robots in this heat, and I truly believe any one of them could win it. If I€™m going to pick someone, I shall go for The 6isc.

    Heat D

Flick of The Wrist VS Y4 VS The May Tracks has You - Probably Y4 to go out here
Dreadnaut VS Axes of Evil VS Pure Evil: Revenge of the Disc - 300kJ flywheel hitting fibreglass? You do the maths. Dreadnaut to be obliterated.

Heat Winner: Pure Evil seems to most obvious choice, but it also seems to most obvious to self destruct. I shall go for Flick of the Wrist here.

    Heat E

Crimson Thunder VS Door Stops VS Gemini - Probably Gemini will go out here
ARRTDS VS Squishest VS Tira 3 - ARRTDS to burn itself out€¦

Heat Winner: I think Tira III has this one easily.

    Heat F

Seung Mina VS Nitrogene VS Dead Horse Beater - The Horse to jump the fence€¦
Storm 2 VS Big Nipper VS (Steve Entry) - Depends what Steve puts in, but probably Big Nipper out

Heat Winner: Probably Seung Mina III and maybe Nitro-Gene 4.0

    Heat G

Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus VS ISDSFA VS Black Panther Queen - ISDSFA will probably fall here
Fire & Ice VS Lethal Injection VS Dennis the Menace - Hmmm€¦ Lethal Injection out, good fight though

Heat Winner: This is a tough one€¦ BPQ and Die-Ceratops would be the most likely, but Dennis could do well and Fire & Ice has the potential to spring a susrprise.

    Heat H

Gabriel VS Slaying Mantis VS Exertion - Go for a team up with Joey and give Slaying Mantis a good push about before pitting it. My armour should withstand the crusher fine.
Panic Attack VS Manic Monsoon VS MeCannibal - Panic Attack out

Heat Winner: Another hard one, but probably Manic Monson and maybe MeCannibal, with Gabriel as a dark horse.

  4. #44

  5. #45
Are the rest of the heats still coming up?

  6. #46
You forgot, Steve already put his entries in, just above your post.

  7. #47

  8. #48
    Heat F
Seung Mina VS Nitrogene VS Dead Horse Beater
Storm 2 VS Big Nipper VS Whirligig

    Why me...?

Its preemtive karma payback. Later in life youll cure cancer, discover the meaning of the universe and invent a tool to open heat sealed plastic packages safely.
