The nub of the problem here is the Space Centre.

This is the second time this has happened with this venue.

They will possibly do it to Robots Live next year.

We would advise the FRA to not allow an event at this venue to be posted on the live event thread until a written contract has been guaranteed for 2009.

It is unlikely that the Space Centre will ever get a competitive bid again and RL should sting them accordingly.

I wouldnt say that Ewan. I think Shane may well be making some unwarranted assumptions about RL, but people get upset and angry about this kind of stuff because they feel its unjust or their mates are involved or whatever. All of us are enthusiasts who have a major personal stake in the sport (or pastime or whatever) continuing. Sometimes things get a bit heated but thats not a question of childishness its about being human and giving a damn. Ive no idea if it fits in with the way they want to do business or the kind of relationship they want to have with each other generally, but it would be a good idea for the community if the EOs sorted out some kind of informal agreement to discuss stuff like this before it blows up. Ultimately though the EOs are businesses and theyll make their own decisions as they see fit...

The Space center, I think its just not worth all this commotion. Let it burn :P. Itll be their loss for mucking everything up, they dont deserve RR or RL doing their events there

Having run my own business (3 completely different types) for nearly 30 years I have been asked to quote for work hundreds, if not thousands of times.
Its simple: some you win some you dont!
In my current business I know most of my competitors personally and accept that, a lot of the time, one of them will beat me to a job.
It would appear that, in this case, the venue did not make it clear they were asking for quotes not just handing out the job.
Team Wind power, for one, will be attending all events that are practical / possible regardless of who the EO is.
I am dismayed that the split might widen just as it appeared to be healing.

Exactly my veiw. It was healing nicely, lets not let this open the wound a-fresh. Please.
