Copy and paste from RFL Forum.

    ****************************************
FYI -- This has just gone up
ESPN has made BattleBots an offer! Read about it here:

Somebody please post on the forum -- and start to get the word out --
    thanks!
(and please forgive the hideous and old BattleBots website -- HTML has
come a long way since 2002).

Weve also posted a PDF survey for interested builders to fill out and
email to survey@battlebots.com. The survey is here:

    New Experimental Class
For both competitions, BattleBots would like to open the door to a new anything goes, experimental class. There are NO rules and NO weights for this class. Eventually, wed like to make this into an official class, but for now, we need to experiment, show and tell, and see what you come up with. Just let us know what youre planning to build and well do our best to find time to showcase your creation, or pair you up with an evenly matched opponent.

    Think Outside The Wedge
For this competition we encourage all contestants to build visually interesting, and highly destructive BattleBots. Simple pushers and wedges are not going to make a successful TV show.

I take it thats it for the flippers!!!
I like the NO RULES BIT

No rules and no weights in the states with somewhat more lax rules on guns and explosives than over this side of the pond?

Gonna love to see the arena that can contain them.

A country obsessed with law suits organising a no rules no limits contest? I have serious doubts about that.

The first problem that I see if what happens when someone makes a remote controlled full scale tank? Surely they are least need some maximum dimensions so people just dont build things that can barely fit in the arena...

If they dont.... I think you should all try to get hold of this: http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2006/11/298566494_7c0f2d3fd7_o.jpghttp://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/reso...0f2d3fd7_o.jpg and make it remote controlled....

Nah, get an R/C car, cover it in inch-thick lead, and strap three or four atomic bombs to the side.

On a different note, itd be good if they did bring it back on TV, although I sincerely hope Carmen Electra isnt involved in any way.

    Pro Competition
BattleBots is also staging a Pro competition back-to-back with the College competition. This will give us the opportunity to film both events, and leverage the Pro event for additional broadcast opportunities. The Pro event will be open to Professional Teams fighting 200 pound -- heavyweight robots, as governed under the current BattleBots rule set.

For this event, we want to see new bots, bots that could eventually become toys. Older bots are most welcome but all robots must be in top condition.
