Thread: Tips about soldering

    hi all

    yesterday i was having trouble soldering the wires to my drill motors. any tips to make it easier (i have tinnned the wire)? i will try again today but if no luck will use the info from here

    you can get some green nasty stuff cleaner.
    Its aparently not healthy to breath it in but if you turn your soldering iron on and dip it in and clean it on a damp spunge your tip is as good as new.
    Fraid i dont know the name but I picked it up at Maplins and that will help.
    Make sure you have a devent watt soldering iron. Get a good brand as well.
    Any one who knows me knows I am not a good at all this electrical stuff but I can dabble.

    i have managed to finish the motors, but can someone answer me this at a few minutes my soldering iron gets hot (like it should) but seems to make the solder go all globby, and sometimes has a sort of petrol in the light colour about the tip

    any ideas how to solve this?

    i have an antex iron and use a cleaning block
